iam 0 #1 September 24, 2003 Hi, I was wondering if the USPA Tandem and AFF ratings are recognised in Australia and New Zealand. Thanks Ian"Don't ever knock on deaths door, just ring the bell and run away - it really pisses him off"
masher 1 #2 September 24, 2003 From our OpRegs: 9.1.1. A person shall not act as a parachute instructor, tutor or jumpmaster unless he/she is the holder of a valid APF instructor or tutor rating and then only within the privileges of the ratings and endorsements held. 9.1.10. Jumps made outside the auspices of APF may not be used to qualify for, requalify for or maintain currency of an APF Instructor or Tutor rating or endorsement except with the written authority of the Director Instructors. So basically, you need the permission of the Director Instructors and be member of the APF to act as an instructor.-- Arching is overrated - Marlies
mikkey 0 #3 September 24, 2003 What Masher said. However, the USPA credentials are well known and respected. Chances of getting permission to work as an instructor pending some evaluation should be good. If you plan to come down here you should contact the APF and have a chat about your plans. There is a "Pom" (Brit) with BPA ratings working at my DZ - I don't think he had major problems being allowed to work as an instructor.--------------------------------------------------------- When people look like ants - pull. riggerrob 643 #4 September 24, 2003 By the same logic, would Canadian Progressive Freefall and rigger ratings be recognized in Australia? How about Master Rigger and tandem instructor ratings issued in the USA?

Bazza 0 #6 September 24, 2003 Here's a link with more info. There are some hoops and hurdles but it is possible without having to re-take courses. http://www.apf.asn.au/skydiving/osinstr.asp
Tonto 1 #7 September 25, 2003 In South Africa... Your US Master riggers rating would be recognised without any problem. Since your Tandem rating is issued by the manufacturer, that would also be recognised, but our requirements here are higher, being 1000 dives before you can do Tandem or AFF. If you have over 1000 dives, one check out from an evaluator should do it. tIt's the year of the Pig.
riggerrob 643 #8 September 25, 2003 Hee! Hee! Would 2,600 tandems be enough to jump with South African students?
