canopywhore 0 #1 July 15, 2003 It was a year ago yesterday that I broke my femur. Once again I would like to thank the nice people at Chicagoland. I appologize for causing a scene in front of tandems and students. I especially need to thank the skydiver that was the first one to get to me. He recommended that I go farther to Aurora for medical help. He was an EMT and his advice definately made my recovery possible. 5 months to the day I made a jump and I have made over 130 jumps since my accident. Here are some things I have learned. 1 nobody could prevented the carnage 2 I checked my pride at the ER room 3 accuracy is nice but not the most inportant(see 2) 4 when landing if the spot is long I don't care if I make it back to the swoop line(see 2) 5 I don't worry about landing on my but anymore(see 2) 6 when choosing a canopy think about what you like to do RW,FF,Swoop 7 I do more checks of my gear before boarding 8 I pull a little higher 9 don't fly all night to a new dropzone with a demo canopy and make a jump out of a bi-plane for the first time and try to make it to back on a bad spot to the cool place to land
Eiley 0 #2 July 15, 2003 QuoteIt was a year ago yesterday that I broke my femur. Once again I would like to thank the nice people at Chicagoland. I remember your incident (out of the biplane?) - it was on such a busy day! Then we had some bad advice as to what your left-behind stuff looked like (helmet bag, etc) and spent half a day looking for it! I agree with you, Chicagoland jumpers ROCK!!! I think it was your first time at Hinckley? I'm glad it didn't turn you off our DZ. It's so cool of you to say such nice stuff though Quote I appologize for causing a scene in front of tandems and students. I think we all guessed it was unintentional! Quote I especially need to thank the skydiver that was the first one to get to me. He recommended that I go farther to Aurora for medical help. He was an EMT and his advice definately made my recovery possible. That would have been Pick. One month later it was him causing the scene... as I recall: hook turn, two broken femurs, several other broken bones in one leg, compressed vertebrate and lacerated liver. . I remember about a dozen of us trooping into his hospital room WITH video cameras, which he took very graciously! But he's also recovering well and was turning up to bonfire parties just a few weeks later. Quote5 months to the day I made a jump and I have made over 130 jumps since my accident. Yay for you! Glad your recovery has been complete! Cheers, Eiley (2002 Manifest @ Chicagoland) nothing to see here
