Nightingale 0 #1 September 25, 2003 do you have to do all your AFF at one dropzone? or can I do level 1 at Perris and level 2 at Hollister, then back to Perris for the rest?
AggieDave 6 #2 September 25, 2003 You can switch it up, but I'd recommend trying to keep the switching back and forth down to a minimum. You'll learn faster and get to know the instructors, which will help you out as well.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." falxori 0 #3 September 25, 2003 yeah, what he said... people will get to know you and you'll learn better. but you can, if you insist any special reason you want/need to go to several DZ? O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
hookitt 1 #4 September 25, 2003 The Dropzone change should be ok but the Equipment is very possibly different. Hollister has very good Instructors as does Perris. I haven't been to Perris in a while so I forget what kind of Student rigs they have. Perhaps somebody from the Perris DZ can help on this. Hollister has the original Telesis rig with a Springloaded Pilot chute deployed main. (ripcord). I the ripcord handle location is Leg Strap rather than Bottom of the container. (Hollisterite?...Any one?) I don't know if Perris uses Ripcord or throwout. But the location of the handle is Bottom of the Container. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
skybytch 273 #5 September 25, 2003 Perris uses throwout's.

DrewEckhardt 0 #7 September 25, 2003 On consecutive weekends, I did AFF1 at my home DZ AFF2 at my home DZ AFF3-6 on a business trip AFF7 at my home DZ. No repeats and I finished 3 weeks sooner than I would have if I had to make my schedule fit the available instructors at home. If you're in a similar situation (it's slow where you are, you'll be gone on a trip, etc) I'd recommend it - skydiving is a lot easier when you've done it recently. If you just want to travel, wait until after graduation - it's easier if you're using the same equipment, landing in the same area, etc. and you'll get to know the local instructors better. Nightingale 0 #8 September 26, 2003 I'm just going to be up in the hollister area in two weeks for renaissance faire. driving up on friday, faire on saturday and sunday, nothing to do monday, and drive home monday night... just figured I had a dead day in there and could fill it with something fun like jumping out of an airplane. I can wait til after I finish AFF if that's whats best, tho.
riggerrob 643 #9 September 26, 2003 Every DZ does AFF slightly differently. It may only be small differences in equipment or landing pattern, but those differences can lead to failed levels, more money and frustration. Far wiser to do your first dozen jumps at one DZ before thinking about traveling. Ideally you will do two dozen jumps at the first DZ and complete your A License before traveling. That makes it really easy - read inexpensive - for staff at the second DZ to know how to treat you.
Tonto 1 #10 September 29, 2003 Here it's all at the same spot. I want to know what that L4's(for example) been taught. I don't need to find out at 4000 that he hasn't been taught a pull signal. Plus, 1st jump is where most of the money goes. Why they get the pay and I do the work? Why if they cut corners on the course do I carry the can? Plus new landing area's, new gear, different exit etc create variables that can eat you for breakfast. tIt's the year of the Pig.
pds 0 #11 September 29, 2003 Quotedo you have to do all your AFF at one dropzone? or can I do level 1 at Perris and level 2 at Hollister, then back to Perris for the rest? if you are doing it for shits and giggles you will be doing yourself a disservice. you will most likely be regressed at least one level as a 'check' dive ($$$) and there is a familiarity issue. i think i also saw tonto speaketh of ROI issues. these are valid as well. i would discourage this. but what the hell do i know?namaste, motherfucker.
