More impressions that are less shot from the hip may follow as I read the subsequent posts.

Depending on how 'close' he was under canopy would determine my response. If 'close' for you means 'in the same general space' I would just talk to him and let him know NOT to do any of that.
If 'close' was actually CRW distance 'close' under canopy and he cut me off on final, I would talk to him and if he didn't get it, then pull his reserve handle out of its housing.

You know, I've been thinking about this for the last couple of weeks. We did talk about it when we got to the ground. No fight, we are both pretty easy going people plus I do kinda like the dude. (Get your mind out of the gutter.) The getting close under canopy was probably the most dangerous thing he did to me and it wasn't like crw distance or anything I just had to make a slight correction on final. I really just wanted some opinions about deploying with someone latched onto me and I got that. Also, I will certainly keep this in the back of my mind for the future.

I vote never jump with him again! I sure as hell wouldn't!

You did the correct thing by slapping him. Since he did not get the message, your next signal should have involved tossing your pilotchute.
Never sacrifice altitude for his stupidity.
Don't worry about tearing off his fingers ... AFF Instructors hang onto students all the time.
As for cutting you off under canopy: tell him you will jump with him again after he pulls his head out of his rectum.

I would have dumped right in his freaking face. And as the canopy is being deployed, flip the bird at him. That would have woke him up out of his daze. Kicking is also a good option. At 2K, you have no friends.
