After having suffered through all of this thread I have to say this....RevJim, I found your review to be highly accurate. It's not every day I agree with the critics, but you sir nailed this one.

Oh, one other thing. I'm not sure exactly what your problem with skydiving is, stylin, but if it's the fact that we like our participants to be highly trained I'm forced to come across as rude and say please go away. Maybe you're one of the worlds greatest surfers, I don't have a clue about surfing. From what I've heard about it the north shore is supposed to be a bad-ass place to surf, frought with peril if you screw up but full of fun rewards if you can handle it. A person could die there is what I've always heard. Would you, being a world class surfer, encourage me to hang out there and surf with you on a regular basis? I'm thinking no. In skydiving every jump is like that. There are no bunny slopes in skydiving, no small waves. If we wipe out we're royally screwed with nothing left to do but hope our friends don't miss us too badly. That's a big part of why everyone will keep on trying to get you to advance up the progression if you keep comeing back.

Boy, the stuff you miss when you don't log onto dz.com for a few hours :S

This had to be one of the over-all weirdest threads, and it sounds like natural consequences in action. There were a lot of doors slamming. I'll keep it cracked open, but only if you're willing to look in awhile, and learn how people behave in here.

If nothing else, someone who's going to the DZ to pick up girls probably has a little trouble wiht arithmetic and ratios...

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

he was a minorly amusing troll, but not very proficient. i just caught up on his ramblings in the womens forum..a sad plea for attention really, but at least he had the grace to leave when it was obvious he wasnt wanted..

Q: when is the last time anyone did a static line jump at eloy anyway? i dont think the school has any SL rigs they were switching most of the ripcord rigs over to boc when i went thru AFF more than a year ago..uh oh i asked a skydiving question in a troll thread;)

I was watching this thread last night in "shock and awe"...I am kinda bent that he deleted his entire posts, because I am sure that there are some real gems of knowledge and enlightenment in there. Can we nominate this for one of the best threads of the year???? Great stuff, very entertaining!!!

yeah... i appreciate everyone who quoted him as i was trying to catch up on this thread i missed last night. Too funny. So let's make it a habit of quoting everything the troll says from now on so he can't delete it and hide like a poser. It's people like this that hit a nerve in all of us real skydivers. he's so clueless, and he's out there telling the world he's a skydiver and it's easy. sad really.

stylin, seek approval elsewhere.

Right? I feel like I almost know the guy, even though I only read the couple of his dumb-ass posts that he forgot to delete.

Hey I'm kinda new here. What's a troll?

Troll isn't unique to DZ.com, its a term that's been around on the net for a long time (and BBSes).

A Troll is someone who posts inflamitory questions or comments just to get a huge debate going, or to get people upset.

A classic example for DZ.com: "I don't need a RSL because I have a Cypress..."
--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

I consider myself a very lucky human. Let me tell you why. I've spent time ski bumming and snowboard bumming and met some incredible people. Why skydive, there is simply NOT A BETTER PLACE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD TO MEET SO MANY QUALITY COOL CARING ABLE TO SLAM BEER LIKE I DO LOVING LIFE HATING WORK (unless they jump for a living) TYPES OF PEOPLE. Not to mention the RANGE of ages and nationalities and etc... etc... etc... I get to meet every year I'm involved in the sport. I love the people and wouldn't trade my participation in this sport for anything. Although, sometimes it is tough to decide between a day of fat three feet soft ass Colorado powder or a kick ass day at the DZ!

Copied from post in women's forum's by stylin:

Im not a skydiver, Im a surfer, not serious about skydiving at all. I just do it as another extreme in order to gain more confidence out on the waves. Dont intend to ever become a skydiver (just a dude who jumps out of planes every once in a while).

I have one tandem-1, two static lines, and one tandem-2 I didnt pass because I couldnt find the ripcord. Supposed to have had one this weekend but had a cold, so was advised not to go up.

Theyre trying to get me to go for this A license but Im not sure I really want to. I have a lot to think about.

Later.

If you're not serious at all about skydiving, why are you consuming all this bandwith on dz.com?

Ahhhh... the dream of cubicle drones every where.

I crash at the DZ on the couches as often as possible all summer long

---------------------------------------------
I am a "cubicle Drone" and always schedule my vacations around the weekends so I do not have to pay people to trade shifts as often. I only live 10 kms from the DZ but prefer to sleep in my tent there than to stay home in my warm bed with my wife.

Damn it went over :(
I started reading this thread today 2nd april, All the way from the 1st post i thought hey this has the makings of a reasonably good April Fools' day prank thread.
But alas it was taken into today by Betzilla. It would have been much funnier if it had just stopped b4 that post:D:D:D

You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky)
