Well Jump 35 today, had a fun jump first load prior to continuing FS1. One of the guys was leaving today so we did a hybrid he went FF i went belly. Had much fun on the way down. Waved of at 5k turned tracked, ditter went at 4k so I slowed and pulled. Waits 4 seconds lovely canopy and 6 or 7 line twists. So I pull em apart and start kicking out and after 3-4 seconds they aint comin so i double check im going the right way and I am but now the canopy (only sabre 170 loading about 1 ish) is starting to turn and I see visions of the mals video as hte horizon swings by, so Im like see ya and heh voila my first cut away and Im back under canopy at 1300 and just get back to the dz. But its ok they got the gear back and I kept the handles and I done 3 more jumps today already!!

Good job, Tasadin...

How fast were you losing alti? Seems like it was pretty quickly.

Glad to hear you did well, and were able to continue jumping the same day. It took ma a lot longer than that to get back into the air after my cutaway - three days...and lots of handholding and support from DZ.comizens, too...

Well done!

When you're new to the sport, it's probably better to err on the side of overestimating the speed of a turn/spin instead of the other way around.

I'm sure your instructors were watching, and will give you feedback, Tasadin. Either way, congrats -- you walked away from another skydive!

Amen sister!

On my first (and only so far, knock wood) cutaway, I was greeted at the hanger by people telling me that they'd had similar malfunctions and been able to land just fine. I was like, "whatever. You're not me, I'd rather spend an hour hunting for a lost canopy than days in the hospital with broken bones."

Good job Tasadin. You made a good decision.

And don't you just feel like a million bucks after you survive a malfunction!?

I had a containerlock once, and some people said that they would reach back and try to yank out the pin first instead of going straight to emergency.:S Not something I considdered with a life expectancy of 12.5 second...

You did the right thing Tasadin. Congrats for saving your life....and....BEEEEER;)
