Rmillerick 0 #1 September 3, 2003 Hello everyone I am new to skydiving and am looking to take the plunge into getting my AFF 'A' license. Yesterday when I called Skydive Monterey Bay inquiring about their AFF program and certification, I was told come October the AFF will be requiring 50 jumps to get a class A license instead of the regular 20. Is this true? As a college student I am always low on funds. I am looking for a place to get certified in Northern California. Any suggestions on good drop zones / prices for the AFF certification? Thanks
Shark 0 #2 September 3, 2003 You may want to speak to one of their instructors. Depending on the dropzone, AFF is typically a 7 or 8 level program as part of the ISP. You will still need to complete the A license proficiency card and attain 20 jumps. After 30 September of this year you will need 25 jumps for an A, 50 for a B, 200 for a C, and 500 for the D. Any suggestions on good drop zones / prices for the AFF certification Try Hollister - just East of Gilroy. http://www.skydivehollister.com/aff.html My sister lives in the Bay area and I've been down to visit twice as a skydiver - both times to H town. I HAVE visited SMB and while the facilities are VERY impressive, nothing was going on that Monday so I could not judge the vibe. Hollister is 'very' friendly to visitors and newbies. Do an advanced search for skydivers and home DZ's (main page) and you'll find H town people like Sebazz1, Titaniumlegs, lizzieB, pop, celljumper... you get the idea - lots of the DZ.com regulars are also H town regulars. The key to having fun and progressing quickly has a lot to do with how comfortable you feel with your instructor(s) .. let's face it, a plane is just a tool to get you to altitude (our only plane is a 1956 Cessna 182!!) and the club buildings are 'just' for packing, partying, and watching videos. You'll know that very soon HAVE FUN and good luck with your progression! -Dave Life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friend (Lennon/McCartney)
