CanuckInUSA 0 #1 February 25, 2003 Am I spoiled with my home DZs airplane(s)? Currently the place where I regularly jump has a King Air and a Cessna 206 and in a little over a month we'll also be getting an Otter. So here I sit thinking, how spoiled am I in this marvelous sport of skydiving? How many of you out there only have access to a Cessna 206 or 182 (or worse)? What airplane(s) does your home DZ have? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
AggieDave 6 #2 February 25, 2003 2 C-182s. Great planes very very fun to jump from. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
dreamsville 0 #3 February 25, 2003 2 Super Otters and a C-182. I don't drink during the day, so I don't know what it is about this airline. I keep falling out the door of the plane. Harry, FB #4143
tb62871 0 #4 February 25, 2003 that's exactally what we have this season is a 182 and a 206. last year we had a caravan but this year it is gone. --TB Welcome my friends to the show that never ends.
aufreefly 0 #5 February 25, 2003 We ditched the otter (leased) for a "super" king air(bought). I actually like the king air better for those days when there are not enough jumpers to get back to backs on the otter. It's way easier to pack quickly when you have to watch other people going into the air every 15 minutes or so. As an added bonus the groups are smaller --> less canopy traffic
skygod7777 0 #6 February 25, 2003 2 182's (year round, but only 1 running right now ) 1 caravan. (march to like october) and for a week we get a lot of really cool planes (no i didn't count these) but this past year, we had 3 otters, 2 caravans, and a C-130. i'm talking about the richmond boogie, best boogie around later
Jimbo 0 #7 February 25, 2003 We've got 4 turbine jump planes, 1 turbine helicopter, a biplane, and a cessna. - Jim"Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
ianmdrennan 2 #8 February 25, 2003 Tim, Come out to Orange, MA this year. Most of us old BP people are migrating there. Twin otter :).......much jumpy jumpy.... Hope to see you there, IanPerformance Designs Factory Team
skybytch 273 #9 February 25, 2003 3 Super Otters and a Super Skyvan at "my" dz; two more Otters 15 minutes west of there and another an hour or so south. Nope, you're not spoiled, but I sure am. What's wrong with a 206 or 182 though? Just cuz you can't get 12,500 out of them and you're stuffed in like sardines smelling your buddies feet (or worse)... at least in a Cessna you can kiss the pilot on the way out. SkydiveMonkey 0 #10 February 25, 2003 My home dz has a 182 (great little thing), although the dz I'm jumping at has a Grand Caravan and a 206.____________________ Say no to subliminal messages
Brains 2 #11 February 25, 2003 Quote and in a little over a month we'll also be getting an Otter. Screw you!! LOL. We USED to have a super otter. now a fast king air and a c-182 and a T-bo. Never look down on someone, unless they are going down on you.
SkydiveMonkey 0 #12 February 25, 2003 Quote Just cuz you can't get 12,500 out of them Oh you can. Just takes a minute or two longer than an otter ____________________ Say no to subliminal messages
Emmie 0 #13 February 25, 2003 Hey Ian, How are you and Katie doing. Does this meen that its final that BP is going to become a tandem only DZ? That makes me so sad, I am going to miss everyone. Guess I'll either have to drive to Orange for an hour and a half, or just migrate to SNE. Marianna
Scoby 0 #14 February 25, 2003 We have a King Air and a 182, though I've never been in the Cessna. While I love the Otters and Skyvan at Perris/Elsinore, I'm happiest crammed into the King Air. The extra thousand feet of altitude we get for a buck less a jump is nice too.
PhreeZone 20 #15 February 25, 2003 C206, Beech 18, Westwind Beech, then the planes of summer. (Casa and Super Otters all last summer) I love Jim, Paul and CSS!!Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
eyeinthesky 0 #16 February 26, 2003 2, sometimes 3, c-180's and a DHC-2 that they call a "beaver" at the DZ. i've only seen them use the "beaver" on days where the weather is so nice that everyone comes on the same day. bigger, nicer planes might be nice, but hell.....we're just gonna jump out of them anyway! doughey, i was stupid before stupid was cool!
Stacy 0 #17 February 26, 2003 4 or 5 otters and sometimes a porter at zhills, i "grew up" with an otter/caravan/skyvan/biplane/182. yep, it's FL, want a different plane to jump? drive for an hour or so to the next turbine DZ. the epitome of "spoiled-ness." Raefordite 0 #18 February 26, 2003 We have 2 each Cessna 182's and a Twin Otter. The best part is they are DZ owned - so they can't fly away when needed elsewhere or during the slower season and leave us hanging! We also have a second Twin Otter and CASA on location when needed! dkpbxman 0 #19 February 26, 2003 At the Ranch, during the winter, it's usually a 182 and a Porter. Summertime 3 or 4 Otters/Super Otters are added. When I started on Skydive L.I. they only had a 182. I still like that plane. They're only big elevators.
Jib 0 #20 February 26, 2003 Caravan, Porter, 206 and 195 which is suped up but offline. They put 9 max in the Porter, which is tight, but not as bad a 10 like some places. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. RevJim 0 #21 February 26, 2003 All of the ones you listed!!!!! See, not having a "Home Drop Zone" specifically, I consider my home drop zone the one that I jump at on any particular day. This means, basically, that my home DZ has all those you listed, and quite a few more! It's your life, live it! masher 1 #24 February 26, 2003 We've got a C-182 and a BN2A Islander. I'll be jumping out of the Islander on Sunday. woohoo for me. Theres an airshow on at our airfield, so we're part of the display...-- Arching is overrated - Marlies
