rapper4mpi 0 #1 February 19, 2003 I'll be shipping my gear via FedEx with full insurance etc... My question is this, what do you recommend for actually packing the rig in a box to protect it and the Cypres from abuse? Any suggestions would be appreciated. -Rap
Ron 10 #2 February 19, 2003 I ship my rig all the time via FedEx...and I also work for FedEx. I just put the whole rig, put it in a trash bag in a box that it fits in, and send it out. Put your address on the inside of the box on the rig, as well as outside the box. skybytch 273 #3 February 19, 2003 Definitely put the rig in a plastic bag! We usually add some packing material (newspapers, peanuts, etc) to take up the extra room in the box - not to protect the rig so much as in the hopes that it will help the box keep it's shape. Include your phone number with your address inside the box - preferably a number that you can always be reached at.
keskeie 0 #4 February 19, 2003 By the way, everyone, it seemed to me (after my research before I mailed mine off) that Fedex Ground with insurance is cheaper than UPS or the postal service, and it's only taking 4 days to get from CA to FL. Of course, I had to drive to a Fedex Ground office, I don't know how high the prices go if you have it picked up or go through a private "Mailboxes Etc" type of place.... But it only cost me $25, and that was with $2600 worth of insurance. We were never feeling bored because we were never being boring. -Zelda Fitzgerald
rapper4mpi 0 #5 February 19, 2003 Thanks for all the advice. It is going to cost about $35 to ship ground via FedEx w/ $5,000 in insurance. Mail Boxes Etc. charges $5 to receive the package, not too shabby! -Rap
