indyz 1 #3 January 7, 2003 40K feet is nuthin, you don't even need a pressure suit.40 kilometers, on the other hand, is more than 120,000 feet. There were a few people who were trying to make an attempt this year, but nobody even got off of the ground. Kittinger's 102,800 foot record from 1960 still stands. I read a lot about some of the attempts that were going to happen. They guy was to free fall faster than the speed of sound. Any updates on when or if they will try again? airtwardo 7 #9 January 9, 2003 ?Wildwood? ...as in Lake Wildwood? Kits record is the U.S. record, around the same time and for the same reason..ie testing suits etc. A Russian dude actually went higher and without the use of a drouge chute, went considerably faster! ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~
