mjosparky 4 #51 August 2, 2003 QuoteI have flown a pd 113 loaded at about 2.0. Without a head wind it lands like shit but its not something to worry about if you have the required skills. And just how do you find out if you have the "required" skills before hand? Every year we loose 10/12 jumpers who thought they had the "required" skills. Reserves are 7 sells remember? mjosparky 4 #53 August 2, 2003 The point you seem to be missing is...That you may not have that choice. I had to land a 113 in a VERY small field with the approach being 120 foot trees on one side of the road, and power lines on the other side. A building with power lines on my right, and my left was 50 foot trees. About 30-40 feet from the road was a large pile of wood, and right after that was another building with phone lines running from my right and cutting accross the front to the back of the building. You think I WANTED to land there? My other options were MUCH worse. We all have choices. Choices you made before the jump put you in that position. Dude you were not there, and you don't know. You ever been in DeLand over the buildings at teh airport? But besides that I think its safe to say that you should be able to handle a reserve more than double the size of your main.If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. Nothing to eat, no books to read.

Bill, You are right, but there are many who must find out the hard way. SparkyMy idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Sparky Yeah and I have landed in the peas like 300 times there. But this time I had a malfuction due to a packer not stowing a brake. I was doing a 4way, broke at 4 grand, tracked and pulled at 2500. The Velocity opened, and then spun up....I fought it till around 17-1800 feet (which was like 5 seconds) then chopped. A sub terminal opening on my PD 113 put me at about 1100 when it was all said. Well I was over the MIDDLE of the Airport....Like almost right above the Relative Workshop on Lexington. I could TRY to make 92 over some TALL tress (That my main and PC landed in) or I could try to land on Lexington (Which has power lines what looks like every 5 feet when you need to land there) or a small field across the street. Now, you were not there, and frankily could not care what you think. But I guess you could have done better? Or maybe you pull at like 14,000K?
