rendezvous 0 #1 June 30, 2003 Does anyone know if the 727 or whichever jet that was is going to be there this time or is being worked on. I don't see it in the current fleet available on the web and there seems to be no sales pitch around it.
ojf1982 0 #2 June 30, 2003 If they say that the jet will be there dont believe them until it shows up. Last year, on the website the jet was "confirmed", and durng the convention leading up to the day the jet was supposed to show up, they said it was going to be there, but the day it was supposed to show up, some "insurance problems" came up.The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over - Hunter S. The last Jet at the WFFC was in 2000 The last Connie at the WFFC was in 1997 If you go, expecting one of these aircraft, expect to be disappointed. PhreeZone 20 #4 June 30, 2003 Call the WFFC and get them to fax you the paperwork that the airplane owner had to send them about the canceled insurance. The Jet was sitting on the ramp in Detroit I believe just waiting for the word to fly, same with the Connie. The plane was as good as there except the insurance company pulled at the last day or two. Word was the owner was even going to fly it uninsured for the WFFC but the insurance company shot that one down fast. They are not even advertizing a jet but I'd put money on Kirlin trying to work on some special planes for us again. If you are going to a boogie just to make 1 or 2 jumps odds are you're missing out on the really good things at the boogie. The C130 was back for the first time in years, the DC3 is back, there is a new chopper, the biplane, the ballons, the normal planes... If you really want a jet jump the Espace boogie has the jet this year again.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
WFFC 1 #5 June 30, 2003 We are working on specialty planes. There are some that won't be announced until the webteam can run over and take a picture of said elevator sitting on the tarmac. I've got copies of both letters from the plane owners who backed out at the last minute as their insurers changed their mind at the last minute. Phree is correct. The &%# operator was going to fly without insurance, but the insurer threatened to cancel all the policies on the rest of his fleet if he did. There were some (me) that suffered a credibility hit due to the &%# being listed as confirmed. I guess having copies of the preliminary approval for insurance and personal phone calls from the operators was not enough. The boogie is not entirely about one plane. Come for the fun. Besides, the door on the C130 is much bigger than the other... P.S. will post copies of the letters if anyone wants.
ojf1982 0 #6 June 30, 2003 I was only planning on going that year for a few days, but when i heard the jet was confirmed i asked for a few more days off from work, just to jump the jet. Regardless, wffc2002 was a shitload of fun, and i wish i could go back this year, but hopefully i will be able to go in 2004.The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over - Hunter S. That may be true, and I'm inclined to believe it, but you flat out LIED about the Connie in 1998, 1999 and 2000. So regarding these aircraft, the bottom line is, believe it when you've boarded it. apoil 0 #12 July 9, 2003 Quote I did not have anything to do with website or anything else those years so your response would be incorrect. By you, I mean "the WFFC". You are posting under that name. You are speaking for them. You can't just disassociate yourself from what was said by people in your position before. And even though, like I said, I'm inclined to believe you, it's a simple fact: 3 consecutive years with no jet, 5 consecutive years with no Connie. So expecting such aircraft to be in attendence would be setting oneself up for a disappointment.
WFFC 1 #13 July 9, 2003 QuoteBy you, I mean "the WFFC". I assumed that, but had to post what I did. My rules are simple, if it's not going to be there, we're not putting it up. I've got a list of 'rules' that I have to have before I'll put it up. Even if the aircraft that has been discussed in this thread is 'confirmed', I don't belive we'll post it until we can take pictures of it sitting on the tarmac.
