CanuckInUSA 0 #1 July 1, 2003 With all this talk about wing loading your main, I was wondering how some people were loading their reserves at. I'm currently loading my reserve at about 1.1, but in approximately four months or so (assuming I have the $$$, am injury free and have done the 100-200 more jumps I anticipate), I will likely be buying a new container and the wing loading for that container's reserve will be going up. Note: I've allowed multiple answers for those of you who jump more than one rig with different reserve wing loadings. Also, if you're so inclined, include your main wing loading (optional) and your experience level in your posts. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
diverdriver 5 #2 July 1, 2003 1.3:1 Reserve. I didn't really want to go that way but getting my Micron that would fit my Stilleto 107 required me to downsize my reserve from a 150. I know that I can land the PD 126 conscious. Main Stilleto 107 1.54:1Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

towerrat 0 #4 July 1, 2003 I'm at about 1.34: 1 on my reserve.although that may seem a little high, it is till lower than my main (1.43:1). I jump where there are a lot of outs and don't feel these numbers are too rediculous. As far as I'm concerned, an unconcious reseve landing is highly improbable, as I have no AAD......Play stupid games, win stupid prizes! BlueEyedMonster 0 #8 July 1, 2003 A very experienced rigger put it this way to another jumper at our DZ. Land your reserve with no flare, your breaks stowed and your body limp. That's what's gonna happen if you have a cypress fire because you are unconscious. Now...How high do you really want to wingload it?
wmw999 2,447 #9 July 2, 2003 Barely over 1.1 for the reserve. 1200 jumps. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

mustard 0 #11 July 2, 2003 Jump a Sabre2 135 at about 1.1 for my main, and a MicroRaven 150 for my reserve, at about 1.0 or a little less. I had one ride on it, and boy was I glad for all that yellow stuff over my head. I understand that the MicroRaven doesn't perform very well when overloaded, and I know mine was twitchy when I landed it, but perfectly serviceable. *** DJan

Amazon 7 #15 July 2, 2003 I am under 1:1 for a wing loading on my reserve. I have 500+ jumps and if and when I have reserve ride number six...I want a soft landing (at least softer than my 2 under the old C-9 orange and white bellywart or the 2 under the 26' LO-PO gave me or that 24' military POS that I took into the water). This would be my first ride on a square reserve. I have a Raven 3 and hopefully it will be good to me if I am injured or out of it and cant do a damn thing to land it. Beyond that .. if I am in good shape I want a nice uneventful landing. I have seen plenty of people who with the adrenaline and head trip a reserve ride throws on you, are not in great shape when its time for landing. I dont care how good a canopy pilot someone is, when you get under a reserve its no longer just another jump. Plan for the worse, so when it doesn't happen you are pleasantly surprised. OK so my big Infinity rig with big old Raven isn't cool, at least my big ole butt will be back in the air on the next jump with my backup Javelin J-7 rig that also contains a Raven 3 that looks uncool. To me they are beautiful things. Amazon
FallinWoman 1 #16 July 2, 2003 Main...1.13 (a 190) Reserve 1.18 (a 181) I have landed a demo reserve at 1.34 (a 160), and that was with a whuffo running right at me, landing crosswind and a plowed corn field.... I would be comfortable jumping a 160 consistently. Nothing smaller, though. I want my reserve to be something I don't have to worry about after a crazy spinning malfunction!!! ~Anne I'm a Doll!!!!
