voodew1 0 #2 March 18, 2004 Hey its just a short drive to skydive aggieland you should come by. Sorry I couldn't help myself Dave. The pimp hand is powdered up ... say something stupid
SkymonkeyONE 4 #3 March 18, 2004 Aggieland is NOT a short drive from El Paso, TX. Bob Kern's place is right over the pass in NM, right off the 10. It's a Cessna DZ, but like my dad says: "every one you turn down is one you missed."
flyhi 24 #4 March 18, 2004 Here's some discussion on that very question.Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
voodew1 0 #5 March 18, 2004 I know that Aggieland is not even close but I was sure that Dave would invite him to drive to College Station as he does everyone who comes thru our big ass state. chaoskitty 0 #6 March 19, 2004 As far as I know.. you are not going to find a turbine dz within a days driving distance of El Paso. Probably the closest drive would be skydive san marcos, if you feel like making a weekend trip. But if youre going to make a weekend trip to San Marcos, you also need to go tubing on the Guadalupe River. Memorial day is the first big weekend on the river.. and hell yes I will be there! And at SSM! (excited happy dance!!) But ya know the cool thing about Texas is that SWA flies hops all day long in between cities for cheap. You could get over to houston in a couple of hours. You've got options. DZ in Santa Teresa, everything out there is brown and either really flat or a mountain. Interesting terrain.
DShiznit 0 #7 March 19, 2004 LMAO!!! Come on down to Aggieland, it's only an 8 hour drive completely out of your way!! You can sleep on my couch!
Jethers203 0 #8 March 21, 2004 I was jumping at SD El Paso today and last weekend filming tandems. The place is pretty cool for a Cessna DZ and everyone is really laid back. As someone has already mentioned, there has been some discussion about SD El Paso (in Santa Teresa, NM) quite a bit in the Places TO Jump Forum. Run a search and you could get most of the information. If you want a turbine DZ, the closest would probably be Eloy at 5.5 hours away. It is way closer than San Marcos. If you want to call Bob the DZO, his number is 505-589-4506. You can also PM me with any questions, directions, or anything else. The DZ is only open on weekends, but Bob does mechanic work out there all week. How long will you be at Ft. Bliss? I will be back at SD El Paso in a month and a half for summer. Hope to see you there. Clint D-24352
