Romericus 0 #1 April 18, 2004 I'm trying to get back into the sport and I know there are several drop zones in the area (within a 2 hour drive). I'm still trying to pick one. I'm just curious as to what's out there and which I should choose. Info about me: I live in Pontiac, MI. I have about 280 jumps, but my last one was 2 years ago. Most of my jumps are RW-based. I'm also looking at finishing up my rigger training and taking the exam. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Blue Skies
billymotox 0 #2 April 18, 2004 Welcome, Rob! Skydive Tecumseh seems pretty cool. I haven't been there yet, but a lot of folks who post here call it their home, and they are really cool people. billy d------------------------- "Escape may be checked by water and land, but the air and the sky are free." weegegirl 2 #3 April 18, 2004 Skydive Tecumseh is my home dz. We've been growing tremendously each year since I started hardcore 3 years ago. We have an excellent lineup of flat flyers with tons of skills... great organizing... big ways... state records!!!... plenty of good riggers to help you out... our freefly scene is one of the best... big ways all the time... great swoopers... and a gorgeous otter. i just got back from a kickass weekend... 11 jumps.... nice dz and lz. and we'd love to have you come play with us. hope to see you around. our number at manifest is 517.423.7720. i'm working on updating our website over the next week or two. drop me a PM if you need directions or anything else. oh, and our party scene is unbeatable. we are the home of the flying hellfish. Romericus 0 #4 April 19, 2004 Thanks Weegeegirl. I may come out this coming Saturday. My main problem will be one of money. That's one reason I want to get my rigger cert soon. Then I can start working as a rigger/packer until I get up enough money to jump again. My real job has to pay for other things this summer.
Skailz 0 #5 April 19, 2004 YAY!!! I live in Indiana.. always looking for a cool weekend trip to a nice DZ. Perhaps I will check it out this summer some time.. Gonna be getting a new Sabre2 so I will be all about jumping this season. Sounds like a really cool DZ. Welcome back to the sky Romericus! :) Blue Skies, ~Skailz~
Romericus 0 #6 April 19, 2004 Does anyone know anything about Skydive Napoleon? I think it's near Tecumseh, but I'm not certain. I've looked at the website for both drop zones, and Tecumseh looks nice, but I don't want to count out Napoleon just yet. BSBD
redrocka 0 #7 April 19, 2004 Never actually got to jump at Napoleon due to weather that week, but the staff were cool as hell... Sweet Gravity...
weegegirl 2 #8 April 19, 2004 Napoleon is a nice group of people. They have a carivan. I've never gotten to jump there, but I've partied there. Nice place.
 Romericus 0 #9 April 19, 2004 well thanks everyone. Barring some unforseen circumstance, I'll be out this weekend to check out Tecumseh. People are cool as hell. So, visit more than once so I can make a jump with you!
 Romericus 0 #11 April 19, 2004 I don't think you'll be missing a jump with me this weekend, liz. I doubt I'll have enough money for it all. (USPA membership renewal, refresher course, gear rental and lift tickets) I'll be out more to get a feel for the DZ and the people than to jump. But when I do get back in the air, I'll set aside a jump with you.
 skydivingfool 0 #12 April 22, 2004 I was in a similar situation. I was out of the sport for 5 years and I only had a total of 24 jumps. I decided to get back in to the air and visited Napoleon (at the time I was UM). They went out of their way to get me recertified. I owe they a lot for that. It is a great DZ and a lot of fun people.
