Low-timer, headed to Houston - Suggestions on DZ?

Recommended Posts

So I jumped my ass of this past weekend (8 on Saturday w/2 student rigs!). Hopefully I'll earn my A this coming weekend if all is well (one pack & one jump to go).

On Friday & Saturday the 21st and 22nd, I'll be in Houston and am looking for a place to jump.

Right now I'm thinking of Skydive Houston, but am open to suggestions.

Thanks everyone

Don't go to skydive Houston. Go to SPACELAND. Why ? well heres why.Excellent staff and people. 2 super otters.Huge landing area. There are people of all standards, and they are extremely safety concious. I am a newby too, and the really experienced jumpers keep an eye on you, and are never too busy to answer any questions or concerns, no matter how silly they may seem.Excellent instructors, i got my A and B liscenses there. They have the current free fly silver medalists, and excellent formation teams, who compete with the best.Showers , a bunk house, swoop pond. Good rental gear, and arguably the worlds best packers. Most importantly the people are great. Its the type of place where even with rental gear on your back and a low number of jumps and a funny english accent like mine, u can turn up alone and jump with others. I miss the place already and have only been gone a few days.

When in Houston, choosing a DZ to go to is hard because either one is an excellent choice.

Your more than welcome to come to Skydive Houston. If your still working on the license we can work on it with you.

If you've managed to get your license, we can work on your SCR.;) (We love helping people get their SCR).

Either way I'm sure you'll meet a lot of fun people and have a great time.

Larry

I would say Spaceland out in Rosharon, just because I'm a spoiled newbie that has had the best handed to me from my first jump that I made out there. I wouldn't knock down Skydive Houston only because I have not been there. I work 5 minutes from it, yet I drive all the way to the south side to jump (about an hour). Really awesome people, good equipment, staff..just an awesome place all together. AND there is plenty of open area if you happen to land off!!
