Pilotchute... in tow? on feet!

Recommended Posts

Quote

yes.. horseshoe or tow, it's not important.
Which is the cause? Perhaps bridle was stored bad?
You see the entangle is immediatly when pilotchute is half-stored into pocket.

If you advance frame by frame, you can see that the bridle is not visible until the pilot is fully extracted. Her pant leg flaps when the pilot chute is half out.

But, she brushes the pilot chute against her foot while it is still in her hand. It looks like the position of her feet and the luck of the wind may have caused this more than anything else.

Could this be caused by having the bridal outside the pilotchute? ie Folding the pilotchute and when its in the size to put in the boc folding the excess bridal back and forth over the chute? It just looks like the bridal came out awful fast.

I think it's actualy hooks on the shoes that catch the bridle....it doesn't appear to wrap around the shoe or anything, it just stays hooked to one point the moment it hits there...

The video's that are a few directories up (several SCARY ASS HALL low-pulls) scared me waayyyy more then this one...

It seems to me pretty clear that the possition of the legs at pull are so bent that the bridle as it is pulled out of the bag catches on the bottom of the shoe resulting in a the bridle looping around the leg and subsequently being pulled tight as the pilot chute inflates.

How glad am I that students have to have an AAD. What concerns me is that this student had to rely on it. :S

Booties can serve a safety related purpose! To protect the heel from snagging your bridle.

"To me, on the vid, it looks like the briddle loops itself around the foot... I looked at it several time frame by frame, and it looks like that to me..."

I'm with the Remster on this one, it loops around the whole foot, its pretty clear frame by frame. In QT pause it and use the cursor arrows (left and right) to frame advance etc....
