Maxx 1 #1 July 3, 2004 Hi, I'm going to Naples, FL in august for vacation. I know it's probably not the best time of the year to jump, but my parents are making holidays and i can join them. Last time I was in Florida I went to Skydive America, Palm Beach. But it has closed now, and I'm looking for a new place to jump near Naples. I don't want to go Skydive Miami, because last time I was there, it seemed to me more a tandem-factory than a good dropzone. Dropzones that come to my mind are Clewiston and Lake Wales. Do they operate during august? Are there other dropzones in reach that anyone can recommend? I preferrably want to do some freefly and get some coaching, if possible. Thanks in advance! Feet up! Stacy 0 #2 July 3, 2004 I think there is a DZ in La BElle, which is just east of Ft Myers. Not sure what the summer status is there, but they seem friendly. I haven't been there. Zhills is right up 75 as well, about the same distance as lake wales would be. ZHills has an Otter and a freefly school. I Believe Lake wales has coaching available too. Check DZ hours, as most FL DZs are closed a few days duing the week due to the season being *off*.
plowdirt 0 #3 July 6, 2004 Yea, get ready to sweat buddy, I would think that clewiston would be your best bet, I heard Olav has been there lately, but who knows where in aug. that place in labelle is o.k. but small landing area few outs and if you get cought behind the trees , well thats up to you to see, near by clewiston within 30 min from labelle. all the other dz's 1.5 hrs plus deland ,lake wales, z-hills, sebastion all hiway flying.Good luck. TheAnvil 0 #4 July 6, 2004 Lake Wales is an awesome DZ. It definitely has TheAnvil's seal of approval - for all that's worth. Vinny the Anvil Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!
LouDiamond 1 #5 July 6, 2004 It will be hotter than hades (and humid) in August and you can set your watch by the daily rain that comes about 3:00 pm +/-. I too will say that Lake Wales is the bomb but it's humid as a MOFO and I was there 2 days ago. The team rooms are a deal, they have A/C and are right above the hanger. Fantastic place, just too hot and humid right now and even more so in August I am sure."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
sunnydee123 0 #6 July 6, 2004 Not for nothing but the predictable daily afternoon showers are more in June (and early July). August is just hot as balls but it's just GORGEOUS at altitude no matter where ya are Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...
