Chrisky 0 #3 July 29, 2004 Depending on where you're staying, a short trip to Belgium will get you to Spa, my former home DZ with great international people, french, germans, dutch and even some brits. Highly recommendable. Also, Skydiver.de has a map of european DZs, which might compliment to those found here. HTHThe mind is like a parachute - it only works once it's open. Jethers203 0 #4 July 31, 2004 Texel is really nice. When I was there they had a Caravan and an Antonov AN-2 (or something), It is a big ass bi-plane, and they had a Let 410 I think.. The people are nice and I am sure you will have fun. Clint D-24352
Kuper 0 #5 July 31, 2004 do you know what gear they have for rent?http://www.orikuper.printroom.com
superfly 0 #6 August 1, 2004 The rental gear on Texel is Javelin containers with PD Sabre main canopies ranging from 150 sq ft to 230 sq ft. Deployment system is throw away, bottom of container but this can be changed to ripcord if necessary. Use of the rental equipment is 16,50 euro and includes the packjob. The use of suits, helmet, goggle and alti is free when using these rigs. You may want to check out: http://www.paracentrumtexel.nl http://www.dropzone.com/dropzone/Detailed/384.shtml Blue Skies! Ori. Check out Teuge: http://www.para-teuge.nl/ If you want to rent gear you can go next door to http://www.parachutecase.nl/ which has a lot of rigs for rent, from just-off-student rigs down to a Sabre2 135 etc. Also you can get demo canopies from PD and Icarus here. We jump from a Grand Caravan and are currently open 7 days/week. ciel bleu, Saskia

LoudDan 0 #9 August 4, 2004 I just got back from the swoop comp at Texel, you will not be disappointed. For about 13 Euros you can stay in the bunk room at de keveit which is where all the skydivers and staff go to eat and party. Jumps are a little pricey, 15 euros for hop and pops from 5,000 and 23Eros from 13,500. The manifest is a little wierd to figure out at first, but after a time or two there is nothing to it. The island is great, and the food around there is fantastic. Have a great time. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
dragon2 2 #10 August 4, 2004 What do you mean by 'in the DZ'? For non-students, you can rent stuff at The Parachute Case which is a separate shop, next door, like I said. Prices are per jump, they have 2 categories I think, one for brand-new and one for older gear, but I can't tell you how much exactly. I suggest you ask them (see website a couple posts up). They also rent jumpsuits and pro-tec helmets. Anything else, bring it with you or buy it there (alti, goggles etc). ciel bleu, Saskia
dragon2 2 #11 August 4, 2004 The bunkhouse on Texel is called De Kieviet just in case somebody wants to find it Jump prices at Texel are not pricey for The Netherlands, just so you know. Teuge is the cheapest tho. ciel bleu, Saskia
