htrip 0 #1 August 27, 2004 Some friends and I are planning a trip to the keys. Just wondering if anyone has any advice/info on skydive key west? I checked out their web site but it seems to mainly be a tandem promo. Thanks for any responses, H
jumpergirl 0 #2 August 27, 2004 I've never been there, but from what I have heard over the years (and PLEASE anyone correct me if I'm wrong) the dz isn't very "up-jumper" friendly. I heard once they charge a LOT for a regular jump out of their Cessna. Again, if I'm wrong, I'm fully open to correction.
 MarkM 0 #5 August 27, 2004 I think it's a tandem only operation. Once or twice a year there's a boogie that goes on at another key, but outside of that I don't think there's any fun jumping going on down at the keys.
 helldog 0 #6 August 27, 2004 Jumped there about 2 years back. Tandem. wasn't exactly a first class experience. But the view made it all worth it. If your a Tourist... go for it. If your a sky diver I'd pass. Not impossible, but I think would be very difficult.
 skydiverus 0 #9 August 30, 2004 Skydive KW is NOT up-jumper friendly. They are a Tandem operation only! Even at that, they only fly a couple times a week. Probably best anyway since I understand that the owner is a real winner. Odd sincee most Aussies I know are pretty cool. There are a few boogies a year held in Marathon which is 50 miles north east of KW. Awsome jumping with outstanding views. One comeing in Nov. put on by Skydive Sebastian. Great time. Went last year. As far as Key west. Don't take your rig. Spend your time in the water diving and party at night. They have some kick-ass bars down there. the airspace over Key west is restricted because of all the commercial and military planes flying. That is why Skydive KW is actually in Sugarloaf Key 17 miles NE. Enjoy you visit. The place is awsome.
