Anyone jumped in Costa Rica?

Recommended Posts

We'll be taking a vacation to Costa Rica next year, and I saw that there is a DZ there. I'm wondering if anyones jumped there and liked it, would go back/no way in hell go back/ or in between? If anybody says it's unsafe, then I'll leave my rig at home. Thenks for any info!

Leave your rig at home as the only thing resembling a DZ there is a small club which only organizes itself once a month, sometimes 2 months, that rents a cessna and pilot for a day.
The edge ... there is no honest way to explain it because the only people who know where it is are those that have gone over - Hunter S. Thompson

Can you post a link here? The DZ I mentioned is the only one I know about. I visit CR regularly, and my friend lives there (who travels every few weeks to Miami to jump) and that is the only one I know about, and he would have told me if there was anything new going on over there.

It's south of Jaco, in Esterillos. Let me know if this is the one and only.....if so, then their website is realllll optimistic lookin....

I am not aware of that dz. The one I was referring to is based in San Jose not 2 hours outside of it. I emailed the link to my friend, and I will let you know what his response is, if it is the same one or not.

Hey - Tory Hart here from the DZ in Costa Rica. Jumping is seasonally inverted for us and the last 6 months have been a test drive and startup period for doing a DZ in costa rica. We are here and operating as volume allows, have a 206 (have rented at times when our was down for maintenance or in customs during importation which is now complete). If we have three tandems or 5 experienced jumpers all willing to do 4+ loads / day, we will operate. Gorgeous DZ resort http://www.elbacara.com right on the beach. Perfect weather Dec through April. Incredible scenery. Experienced: Let us know a little ahead of time so we can give you a feel for upcoming tandem / experienced jumper volume around the time that you hope to come down. First year of operations so we are indeed running slow... but running so come and visit!
