hookitt 1 #1 June 4, 2003 Racer = Not all but many have gap at the top of the reserve where the top of side portion of the riser cover terminates. In a Head down air can get in and simply peel the riser cover open. New and Old velcro both included. When the side cover is open the entire Riser is exposed and flaps around. The Excess line in the Main container will also pull out some on the open side. results. 1) Simple Brake release, line twists Resulting in Cutaway. 2) Bag lock caused by lines of one riser group only being unstowed. One witnessed first hand. One after review of a video right after the Reserve ride. The first person didn't learn to quickly and this happened again before he replaced the rig. A few others came open with normal openings. Vector II Riser covers came undone and toggles released. Results: Funky openings and some resulting in cutaways. vector II Main and reserve Flap coming open: Results from the Main. Eventual Horshoe Malfuntion. 2 that I know of. Results from The Reserve flap. Nothing really just flapping agains the head of the jumper and damagingin the flap attachment point. VectorII and Number 3 was a Javelin. Loose BOC and also poor Pilot chute packing technigue: Results: Premature Deployment Subsequent Results 1) Long Canopy rides (no big deal) 2) broken Lines Cutaway, then a Reserve ride. The bridle went under the arm but his reflexes were amazinly quick and He some how got his arm out of the way with only minor bruising. Saw this on Video after he handed me his rig for a repack 3) Opened in front of arm Breaking shoulder and arm. Long recovery after surgery Diminished range of motion. This was a Girl at our Dropzone On video landing was fairly decent considering her condition. ========= There are others. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... hookitt 1 #2 June 4, 2003 Rigs have improved a great deal. These incidents are not limited to the ones I listed above. That's all I could think of off the top of my head, minus the Many rigs whose main and reserve flaps, and riser covers have come open with out subsequent incidents. Some one mentioned on another thread about the Interesting ways people have packed the reserve into a reserve container completely screwing up the geometry of the rig. A very reasonably freefly friendly rig can be made no longer as friendly due to fact it the rig was not designed to handle such a creative reserve pack job. Any way that's my post on non freefly friendly incidents. Stay safe out there. If it appears non friendly question it. If you just know it is, fix it or replace it. andy2 0 #3 June 4, 2003 someone asked in another thread how effective the mods one can have done to a Vector 2 are for freeflying. How are they? Have you ever heard of these mods failing their job? Is this just as good as buying a new, freefly friendly container, or is it something like buying bonus time until your reserve blows up on you at 160? --------------------------------------------- let my inspiration flow, in token rhyme suggesting rhythm... Monsterchute 0 #4 June 6, 2003 QuoteRacer = 2) Bag lock caused by lines of one riser group only being unstowed. I don't get it why didn't the other line group unstow? If the PC keeps pulling the bag should open unless something blocks it, like a line throug one of the bundel of lines afer the looking stow. QuoteRacer = vector II Main and reserve Flap coming open: Results from the Main. Eventual Horshoe Malfuntion. What pulled the pin on the main?
