sunnydee123 0 #1 November 11, 2004 So thinking a bit ahead, knowing that things can get crazy around the holidays - does anyone know of anything really fun going on for New Years? Any FL DZ's having a kick butt party (music, food, lots of people, etc)? I am trying to sort out what to do and although I hate thinking about being on the road cause of all the drunks and cops (maybe with luck I'll have a house and can hve my own party), I just want to be where the fun is. Are you with me?! New Year - New Beginnings...so what are your plans? Dreams become reality, one choice at a time...

The111 1 #7 November 12, 2004 How cold is Eloy during the day? I absolutely hate wearing gloves (well, I've only tried Neumanns and I don't like how much tactile sense I lose) and I'm hoping to be able to go without them... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

skymama 37 #9 November 12, 2004 QuoteHow cold is Eloy during the day? To jump in, I wore: Glove Liners Gloves Neck Warmer Full Face Helmet Silk Long Johns Long Sleeve Shirt and Yoga Pants 2 pairs of socks Freefly Suit Sometimes a Fleece Sweatshirt on top of it all And I was almost comfortable. Skyflyer1 0 #11 November 12, 2004 QuoteAnd I was almost comfortable. Keep in mind she's from Florida. When we visit to train and its a nice 55-65 degrees, everyone down there is wearing heavy ski jackets, huge neck warmers, multiple layers. And then I'm there in my comfortable soccer shorts, and either a tshirt or sans tshirt gettng a tan. (I live in GA) Eloy 2 years ago over christmas/new years I wore a light thermal long sleeve under a Tshirt, and then soccer shorts under my jumpsuit, by 1 pm I had taken the thermal off. Evening was comfortable with a nice lightweight jacket, and a long sleeve shirt. (Still in shorts though). Jonathan

Amazon 7 #14 November 13, 2004 It was not that cold at Eloy during the jump day. I mean they were sealing the door with stuff and shivering all over the place.. but CHRIST.. its 70 degrees PLUS. Now I suppose if you are used to 100+ for 6 months out of the year.. or from Florida like Andrea and are used to the humidity and warm air.. Maybe it was a little chilly for our little hot house flowers. Heck a couple weeks before Eloy I was in -20 degrees F at altitude here in Seattle.. and we have VERY mild winters... BUT when it gets clear here.. it does get a tad chilly at 14000
skymama 37 #15 November 14, 2004 QuoteKeep in mind she's from Florida. The guy who asked is also from Florida. Yes, weather is all relative compared to what you are used to. People also said that the weather last year in Eloy was much colder than the year before. My best advice would be to come prepared with stuff to layer. It's better to have it and not use it than to be cold and wish you had brought it.She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
groundpounder 0 #16 November 14, 2004 I've only been to Eloy once and that was last year...apparently there was some record cold going on, so it wasn't quite typical.... To add perspective, I'm a guy who ain't from a warm weather state, and I did find it cold until the peak of the day...always had gloves though. The nights got chilly. Very chilly. Ice-crusted tent walls on more than one morning. But my 20degree bag was good enough. Back to the original question...I'll be @ Lake Wales in Florida for New Year's, the 2004 collegiate nationals will be going on from the 27th-1st. Again, never jumped in Florida, but at least I know that is going on there. full and plare
The111 1 #17 November 15, 2004 Well crap man, I don't even wanna go that bad if it's gonna be that cold... I'd heard it was nice during the daytime. No biggie though, I've already got my tickets so I'm committed. I *am* from Florida, but I'm also tough and am always underdressed in the winter, compared to other locals. So maybe it will not be so bad. I just really hate wearing gloves, and especially now that I am flying wingsuits I really like to be able to feel my hackey with my actual fingers... Thanks for the replies...www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Stacy 0 #22 November 16, 2004 Quotewill there be cute little frozen chocolate covered baby bananas? If so...I AM THERE...now I'd just have to find a place to crash cause not thinking I want to tent it in December........ last year there were cute little chocolate filled (godiva liquor) strawberries. dagny and i enjoyed most of them before getting htem past the tents. we've tented it the past two years. we usually reserve a hotel room in town in advance, then as the day gets closer watch the weather and decide whether to camp or hotel it. hotels will book up quickly in the area. But Stacy's liquor filled chocolate covered strawberries were the MAX last year!
