CrunchieDave 0 #1 November 21, 2004 I am currently considering applying for something called the JET scheme and as a result might be going to go and live in Japan so I thought I would ask you guys where abouts the dropzones are so I can tell them where I would like to be put to liveI could be put anywhere in Japan so even things like an indicator to just a general area could be of use to me at the moment, as I would hate to waste the AFF course I am hping to do before I finish uni. AggieDave 6 #2 November 21, 2004 http://www.dropzone.com/dropzone/Detailed/171.shtml DZ.com has a dropzone database, here's what came up in the search. The USPA also have listings, here's a link: http://www.uspa.org/dz/foreign/Japan.htm--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." gordy 0 #4 November 22, 2004 While I was in Japan working I went for a weekend to Tokyo skydiving centre, the website is on the link that AggieDave gave you, its a good idea to get in touch with them first, as in Japan you have to inform the goverment that your going to jump, another thing is you need a cypres jump there. The airfield is shared by two clubs tokyo skydiving club and another one who's name escapes me, the locals were great and it seemed pretty easy to get on loads, jump with other folk, tracking dives, and the owner of the Tokyo club even bought us all an ice cream which I thought was really cool.... It is quite expensive to jump there, just a prior warning, but most of that is made up of the insurance etc that you need to take, initially, the jump prices are a good bit more too Have fun dude
fergs 0 #5 November 23, 2004 A coupe years back I was on vacation in Japan, with wife and kids. I had two weekends jumping at Honda airport, north of Tokyo. They have a Caravan, which is kept in the air by a very enthusiasic bunch of local jumpers. No, I didn't get an ice cream from the owner - but did get given endless beers at the end of each day. Sure, cost was high relative to the US and some other places. But everything is expensive i Japan(including vacations with teenage kids!!!!!), so it was just another expense necessary for supporting our skydiving habits. Anyhow, you'll love it. Incisdentally, it's the only place I've been to where most of the jumpers can stand without bending over in a cessna caravan, ha.
