Spark 0 #1 November 22, 2004 I'm heading to Florida in December. - To break up the drive I was thinking about stopping in South Carolina. Any dropzones highly recommended? Thanks. Spark
Chiquita 14 #2 November 22, 2004 I have only been to two of the DZs in SC, but I like both. They are Skydive Carolina in Chester and Blue Sky Adventures in St. George. If you are going down I-95 then Blue Sky Adventures would be the easiest seeing it is about 5 miles from I-95 and they have very cool people there. darkwing 5 #3 November 22, 2004 I'm a BSA regular. We have a Grand Caravan these days, and are very easy to get to. about 4 miles off of I-95 south exit 77. I can send you very explicit directions if you want. Our 10-way team is going to Lake Wales at Christmas. pullhigh 0 #4 November 22, 2004 It mostly depend on where you are coming from, or what area of SC you'll be passing through. If you're coming down I-77, there's Skydive Carolina www.skydivecarolina.com (Twin Otter). If you're coming down I-95, there's Blue Sky Adventures www.blueskyadventures.com (Grand Caravan). Both are good friendly DZ's, but both are usually only flying on the weekends. Occasionally Skydive Carolina flies during the week, but I'll call ahead for sure. Spark 0 #5 November 22, 2004 I'll be driving down I-95, so Blue Sky it is... I'm looking forward to it :) Thanks for all the advice.
pullhigh 0 #6 November 22, 2004 If you're going to be staying overnight, there's free camping on the DZ, or if you want a room, The Comfort Inn gives an excellent skydiver rate of under $40.00 Ganja
Spark 0 #7 November 22, 2004 I have a truck and was thinking about just crashing in the back of that, in the DZ's parking lot. Provided that would be okay.
pullhigh 0 #8 November 22, 2004 That would be no problem at all. No telling what the weather will be like that time of year, could be warm, could be freezing. SC weather is totally unpredictable when it comes to winter seasons...
