What do you need on foreign DZ?

Recommended Posts

this summer will be third international season on our DZ and we already had many improvments on our visitors requests.
But, probably - we don't know some of them :)
So, what you will need - facilities, information, help - if you will go to foregn DZ and plan to stay there for a week/month/year/whole life?

hi andrew,
-well you could have hot showers, but they re probably already built.
-and besides that some comfortable bunkhouses, with some 2 bed rooms, so you don't have to listen snoring orchester... ;)
- you could also put something softer in the packing area like some sort of carpet...
and then also few things that are not so "mandatory":
- restaurant with GOOD and BIG meals
- swooping pond,
- swiming pool
- organized transport (some van) from the international airport to your dz, instead of adrenaline driving taxi... :S
- bar with a lot of drinks open almost all night, or some sort of "organized" gathering point, for skydivers to party after jumps, instead of everyone going on their own (well almost...) or in the town...
...

hope to se you again next year :)

I was there at the end of august and they were finished and very good !

The bunkhouse could do with a bit of modernising, brightening up and not sure an 80 Amp ceramic fuse should be "protecting" all lights and sockets with 2mm2 wire, a fire waiting to happen.

Food in downstairs restaurant is OK but a clue as to what you are eating in english would be nice. Oh and why was I given a dried fish every time I ordered a beer?[:/]

Must say though thought it was a great place and will definitely be back there, hopefully next summer. As a tip don't go drinking with the Antanov mechanic, just take it from me he'll be able to drink more vodka than you B|.

It was quiet when we were there and it was dificult to find out about where to go for a bit of nightlife (or more importantly, where not to go), bit of information in english on bars, clubs, places to eat would be good.

Aircraft - superb
packers - fantastic
prices - unbelievable value
DZ - very good facilities
Food - basic
bunkhouse - basic

A smart DZO would own the bar, as that might be the most profitable part.

Hi Andrew...
i'm sure you remember the group of 30 israelies from last august ;)

although i was a little concerned at first (none of us speaks russian) the Kolomna team helped us a lot with rides, hotels and other stuff.

i must say that i was pretty happy with what we've found there but i think its great that you're looking for more input on how to make our stay there even better...

- a carpet in the packing area would be nice.
- using the magnetic cards is great but paying for the jumps at the end took a lot of time (i think there were problems with the international credit cards)
- a cold baltika No7 is better than a warm one :)and we need cases of it...
- keep the Mi8 flying

but really, all in all, it was great and there is a good chance you'll see many of us again next year...

Why everyone asks about carpet in packing area? :)
In fact - definetley - there will be no carpet in packing hall, because it will be dirty in 15 minutes after cleaning :(
But we have new hangar for packing and more (e.g. inet-cafe, personal boxes for suits and more)
And we plan to build absolutley new bunkhouses till May and big refrigerator for Baltika No7 B|

But, please, explain me - what for we need carpet???? :)))

just to take better care of the container.
the one you had (or still have), tend to scratch the material which is not that healthy.

how about small carpets only in the area where you place the container?

oh, and since you're here, it would be a good time to tell you that we've started to organize this year's group to kolomna ;)
not sure if it will be late june or later in the summer, but get ready, we're comming B|

Yes - restaurant business is much more profitable, than DZ - I know :) But, unfortunatley - we have DZ :)))
We plan to build new bar this summer with big covered verand for skydive sightseeing.
