propilot 0 #1 December 12, 2004 I jump in Ohio but will be down in Texas for a month and a half. I read the reviews of Skydive Houston and it looks like a good operation....but what about the weather this time of year? Is it warm up at 12K? How busy are they in the winter months down in Houston? Thanks

How busy are they in the winter months down in Houston? I'm a Skydive Houston regular. The weather is beautiful right now - this weekend had lows of about 42, and highs of 72. We flew 19 loads Saturday, all full. The good weather brought lots of people out. Sunday was slow, due to high and gusty winds. How busy they are depends upon the weather: Good - Busy, Bad - Slow. Saturday night was a fajita cookout, and cookies and cupcakes, an SCR ceremony with free beer, and toasting marshmallows around the campfire. I jumped without gloves, and my fingers were not cold at all. Come out and play! The other dropzone is on the south side of town, Skydive Spaceland, and is also a great place to jump. John, don't forget about your friends 45minutes north of Waller...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
propilot 0 #5 December 13, 2004 Cool, well Ill be busting my balls for the first month down there, but once I finish my training i'll be looking for a place to jump for a weeekend. How is the weather around the end of January historically?
AggieDave 6 #6 December 13, 2004 QuoteHow is the weather around the end of January historically? Kinda cool (cold to some) but jumpable. Typically end of Jan/Feb we see some weekends with low clouds and some rain, but who knows how it really will be this year. Be sure to check out Aggieland as well. We're north of H-town about an hour/90minutes in Bryan, Texas. We're smaller then Spaceland or Waller (SD Houston) but we have a good crowd and a good time.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Merkur 1 #7 December 13, 2004 We actually had a load on Sunday going to altitude with the door open all the way up (except for takeoff, off course). Beside the winds it is like summer - if you come from EuropevSCR No.94 Don't dream your life - live your dream!
Amanduh 0 #8 December 13, 2004 3 awesome drop zones in Texas (Houston Area) that you could visit!! Try to make some jumps at all. Spaceland and Aggieland are about 2 hours apart, with Skydive Houston (Waller) in the middle (apprx). Just cruise 290 and you'll be set! HAHA Hope to see you out at Spaceland some.
