Recommended Posts

I am considering doing my AFF with Freefall University, Lillo, Spain. Any comments from recent students would be most welcome.

Hi dude,

Yeah I did my AFF with Freefall University in feb of this year after a couple of static lines in the UK. They come highly recommended in my opinion, its quite a small close-knit school with a few very talented instructors... so whoever you get, you've dipped in!!

ive been back a couple of times since AFF to do FS courses and fun jumping (excellent weather year round), and I intend to be back again soon.. there's experts in every aspect of skydiving who are all keen to help and share advice, a very good school to sit back and learn without actually being in a formal de-brief, although on that note you get very comprehensive coaching through video debriefs which you also get to keep..

Other than the school itself, the DZ is great, very big, and if you do manage to miss the fucking thing, you've got flat land from horizon to horizon.

Speak to Dave Cowman who is the manager of the school, he'll tell you everything you need to know.. he's always usually responded within minutes!!

Tell him i said hi and inform him that he's gotta teach me to fly camera!

I did my AFF at Freefall University this year. The weather was great (I managed to do 24 jumps in 6 days in October) the DZ itself was amazing.

The instructors were all really professional, friendly and very patient! The student landing area is huge and the DZ was in every aspect very student friendly. Everyone at Lillo (both Spanish and English) was v welcoming and all in all it was an amazing experience.

If you go to:
http://www.freefalluniversity.co.uk/reference.asp

Then there's a loads of references there. In all seriousness I've been to a lot of DZ's this year and Lillo is the best one I've found so far! If you want any more info then PM me.

Hi,

I too did my AFF with the FFU this year. I found them to be very professional and helpful both prior to and after the course. They helped me source gear and gave me advice about future training. I also did my FS 1 with them too. I try and visit now as often as possible simply because of the great times I have had, the progress I have made and the people I have met every time I jump there. Tell me, where else in Europe can you do 65 jumps in 10 days and train with the best coaches in the world?

Hope this helps

I think it's a brilliant place to jump. I did AFF there in April and have been back 4 times and again at christmas.
The instructors are all very professional, helpful and safety oriented. The weather is exceptionally skydive-friendly - low wind and not much cloud cover - significantly less than even Madrid an hour up the road.
If you keep up the sport it's a great place to go back to - to do FS or freefly, canopy piloting. The team including Brian, Jordy, Lucy, Barry, Mike, Pablo are top rate.
Gonzalez the DZ owner wants make Lillo the biggest training DZ in Europe and the rate of progress even in the past 8 months is impressive.
I'd say you won't find a better place to train/jump in Europe.

Hi DGuy,

I can only agree with all the other posters, I think Lillo and all at the FFU are great. I done my AFF with FFU back in September and have been back to Lillo twice since then, most recently a couple of weeks ago to do some fun jumps and start training for the FS1.

Location wise it has been really useful for me as I don’t drive and getting to most DZ’s is a problem, there it is only a 15 minute walk from the accommodation in the town. The student landing area is huge and very soft which is very useful for those first few early flare PLF landings :P

For me the best recommendation is the fact that when I have been there there are always old FFU students back for more jumping so they must be doing something right. What time of year are you thinking of going? If you have the opportunity do yourself a favour and do it at the beginning of the season so you have the whole summer to jump, I wish I had, I am not a fan of being outside when it is freezing brass monkeys. I will be back there March time to get my FS1 maybe catch you then.

Blue skies,

Darren Vincent

I learned to skydive with the FFU last year and since then have done 125 jumps at various DZ's in Europe. The FFU in Lillo were by far the most professional and fun. I have now progressed to do my first BASE jump and that was possible because of the excellent training that I received at the FFU.

I can't wait to visit again.

Blue skies, Charlie.
