Terminal-V 0 #1 January 13, 2005 I am moving and am trying to figure which DZ I want to call home. what is you favorit DZ and why. P.s. any known jobs at Dz's for someone wanting to learn how things work? I check on here regularly but nothing listed local. Thanks, Mike
davedlg 0 #2 January 13, 2005 I would talk to sebastian if I were you. It's less than an hour from Orlando. I did my first two jumps out there and I loved it. Great people...unbelievaable views.
skymama 37 #3 January 13, 2005 Everyone is going to have a different opinion as to what they are looking for and if a particular dz matches that. You are very lucky that you are moving within an hour of 5 great dz's: Deland, Z-hills, Lake Wales, Titusville and Sebastian. My suggestion is that you visit all of them and make your own opinion! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
towerrat 0 #4 January 13, 2005 the skydiving is good at all of the major dropzones around the Orlando area. I personally prefer Z-Hills to them all, as it is my home DZ. Sebastian tends to roll up the sidewalks after dark (in my experience) and Deland is very team and training oriented. I really like the fun jumping atmosphere we have at the hills. We have great organizers and coaching/instruction staff, and this time of year is always a blast. Do yourself a favor and stop by, I'll bet you'll have a good time.Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
Greene 0 #5 January 13, 2005 We agree with skymama. Check out all the DZ's. and then decide what you are lookig for as a new home DZ. Skies blue Jim and Lee West
freakflyer9999 1 #6 January 13, 2005 A few years ago, I spent a week in the Orlando area on business. Every afternoon I went to a different DZ. My favorite was Umatilla, which is now closed. The friendliest was Lake Wales. ZHills and Titusville were both great. Deland and Sebatian were the only ones that didn't impress me as much, but they both are still good DZs. weegegirl 2 #7 January 13, 2005 I like ZHills a lot! They are small enough to be a cool lil community dz, but big enough to turn mad loads with a great freefly scene. When I went there we trippled the time we were originally planning on staying. It was tough to leave. That's just my own personal experience.
Rick 67 #8 January 15, 2005 I live in Orlando and have jumped all the DZ's in the area. My home dz is Z-Hills.I enjoy rw and in my experience Z-Hills is a great place for a newbie to learn in a fun and safe atmosphere. There are always several organizers for different experience levels. If you like to hang out at the end of the day you will always find friendly people at the bar or around the bonfire. We also have an awesome freefly school there run by Pip. Come over to the Bomb Squad corner and introduce youself or e-mail me when you get into Orlando I can tell you the quickest route to the dz. RickYou can't be drunk all day if you don't start early! bendywendy 0 #9 January 16, 2005 You definately need to try them all. We'd love to see you come out to Sebastian. You at least have to check out the view from the air. The restaurant has been closed down since the hurricanes but should be open soon. The tiki bar has been reopened and stays open while jumpers are there and still drinking. Once the restaurant reopens (hopefully in the next couple of weeks) the night life will come back a little stronger.
Rick 67 #10 January 16, 2005 Wendy is right Sebastian has the best view from the air. It makes for beautiful ride to altitude. It is only about 1 1/2 hours from Orlando. You can't be drunk all day if you don't start early!
bendywendy 0 #11 January 17, 2005 When are you moving out here? We've got two boogies coming up - Uwe's Country Jam this weekend and then in February the Naughty Cupid Boogie with the Pink Mafia. They are going nuts with costumes and planning for it. The Country Jam is going to have a mechanical bull or the Naughty Cupid is going to have a whole bunch of really sexy chicas in lingerie and wings - so if you are in Florida during either of them - you should check out Sebastian during those events at least.
