LittleOne 0 #1 February 25, 2005 Should I go to Sebastian or Lake Wales? I will be in Orlando next week and can spend 2-3 days skydiving. With so little experience, I prefer to go to just one dropzone for this time. An easy landing area with decent outs is a priority for me. The second most important thing is a friendly vibe where people won't mind helping out a shy newbie. I have already been to a few places where I have gotten lost (literally too). RW vs. freefly is not important because I am working on both. I know that both are world class dzs with much to offer. I also know that both were hit hard by hurricanes so their facilities may not be fully restored but that is not important to me (all I need is a plane, a toilet and a packer). I am just looking for different opinions. Thanks!
RfukfreeflyingW 0 #2 February 25, 2005 Toilet? Packer? man ur needy! I don't know anything about sabastian, but u will have plenty of outs at lake wales, about 15 miles of outs! haha. there are plenty of packers there, and always a big crowd.---- -God, you are the perfect amount of dumb... skymama 37 #4 February 25, 2005 Both Sebastian and Lake Wales are friendly places and I'm sure you'll be happy at either one that you choose. I love going to Sebastian myself because of the scenery. The otter has seats in it, so you can look out the windows and look at the coastline on the way up to altitude. The only downside you might find is that it is usually a little more breezy on the coast than it is inland. Since Wendy posts here on the forums, I'm sure she would be able to point you in the right direction for someone to jump with once you get there. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
carbonezone 0 #5 February 25, 2005 You also have Z-Hills just about 1 hour west of Orlando. GREAT Landing area, plenty of outs, camping, showers, food, bar, great friendly vibes, great all around DZ. PM if you are coming and I will take care of you!! <> Tami
Ncrowe 0 #6 February 25, 2005 Never been to Lake Wales but I've heard good things, Sebastian is pretty much my home DZ and the people and scenery are great. I spent my first weekend at Z-hills last weekend and I was very impressed with this place....I think they turned 38 loads on saturday so if your looking to do a whole bunch of jumps you might want to consider Z-Hills as well. rjackson 0 #7 February 27, 2005 Both are great DZ's. From Orlando Sebsatian is about 90 minutes. Lake Wales and Z-Hills are about an hour away. Both Lake Wales and Sebastian got beaten up from the Hurriances but not too bad to impact operations. Of the three I think z-hills has the most open landing area. Regardless you should have a good time at all three.--------------------------------------------- Randy
popsjumper 2 #8 March 2, 2005 You should really consider Z-hills, too...The Carbones are the King and Queen of skydiving and Tami will treat you right and see that you are treated right. too!! My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. Falcon5232, SCS8170, SCSA353, POPS9398, DS239
Parky1 0 #9 March 2, 2005 I'm just back from Z-Hills and it was excellent. All friendly, with all the facilities already mentioned.
