gemini 0 #1 April 19, 2005 Will be in Bartlesville OK starting on May 1st for six months. Any DZs with Otters or King Airs within a reasonable driving distance of Tulsa? I see a lot of Cessna 182 DZs which are OK, but 13.5k in 12-20 min is a lot better. Don't mind driving 100-150 miles. Blue skies, Jim
Kris 0 #2 April 19, 2005 I could be wrong, but I think the closest Turbines would be Skydive Dallas and Archway near St. Louis.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
mx757 4 #3 April 19, 2005 Archway is in Vandalia IL about 8 hour drive from Tulsa. Quatum leap in Sullivan MO has an twin Otter, but that's a good 4 or 5 hour drive from Tulsa that's why I left Oklahoma. jumping there sucks...used show up at DZ in summer 95 degrees and no one there.. too hot all went boating.. edit to add even skydive Dallas is about 3.5 ~ 4 hours south of Tulsa
sangiro 26 #4 April 19, 2005 Typed Tulsa and OK into the Drop Zone Locator and found 9 DZs in that radius. Did you try that? http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/dropzone/finder.cgiSafe swoops Sangiro

Kris 0 #6 April 19, 2005 I just remembered! Mullins' King Air will be at Oklahoma Skydiving Center May 14th-15th.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™
gemini 0 #7 April 19, 2005 I saw that, but I'll be in Perris for the 100 ways that weekend. Thanks everyone. Blue skies, Jim
skydived19006 4 #8 April 19, 2005 There just isn’t the population density out here to support a turbine AC. Been tried, didn’t work. What we need is a guy like yourself who could do a little creative accounting for one of your clients. I’m sure they wouldn’t miss a measly million bucks, and keep it coming. The DZs in Oklahoma and Kansas couldn’t afford to keep a turbine AC if it were given to them. gemini 0 #9 April 19, 2005 Ummhhh....by creative accounting do you mean the Enron kind? It's easy. Create a business plan that shows an reasonable growth rate. Then project a huge increase due to the increased load capacity in going from a 182 to an Otter. Make sure it is a Super Otter so you can project 3-4 loads per hour at say 18 jumpers per load. That's reasonable. Just omit the fact that there are not enough jumpers in the area to support the projections. Then take it to your local banker who doesn't know your business, aircraft or jumpers! Should be a slam dunk! Blue skies, Jim
yardhippie 0 #10 April 19, 2005 There are 5-6 or more peeps that travel from Tulsa and OKC area almost every weekend to Skydive Dallas. I go there from central Arkansas. Oklahoma Skydive Center? in cushing, ok. It will be a 182, but it should be a blast. Last I heard his plane was fast (for a 182) and he was my aff instructor. Very cool guy.Goddam dirty hippies piss me off! ~GFD "What do I get for closing your rig?" ~ me "Anything you want." ~ female skydiver Mohoso Rodriguez #

dgm458 0 #12 April 25, 2005 From the Tulsa area the closest DZ with a turbine is Dallas, which is actually in Whitewright, TX. It's about 4.5-5 hours from Tulsa. Just hop on the turnpike and head south to TX. Smooth ride at 75 mph. In the Tulsa area is Skydive Airtight, which boasts 2 C-182's. They get 12K in about 22-25 minutes, four per load. The dz in Siloam Springs, Arkansas used to fly a King Air, but not sure about its status. It's east of Tulsa about 2 hours or so. david-------------------------------------------------- Failure to prepare is preparing to fail
