Plucky 0 #1 May 13, 2005 Hi I'm hoping to go to Locarno in Switzerland 27-30 May, and was wondering if anyone can recommend close accomodation, and the best way to get there? I guess Lugano is the closest airport with regular flights ... are there trains between Locarno and Lugano? Thanks in advance! We are having the 2nd Annual Piis Film festival these dates www.piis.ch scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites Mikevetter 0 #3 May 13, 2005 hi plucky the trainsystem in switzerland is perfect. between lugano and locarno you have trains every hour. if you fly into milan it is approx. 2 hours by train, from zurich approx. 3 hours and very nice scenery. the dz in locarno has one of the nicest sceneries in the world. jumps are bit expensive (29 euros approx./4000 meters). 2 porters and sometimes helicopter on sundays. the best around locarno after jumping is the food, incredible. cheap accomodation are a few private places only minutes from the dz. call the office in locarno for details /www.paracentro.ch. they speak english. also simple hotels for approx. 30 euros only 2 minutes by car. enjoy and say hello to the people there.
