WFFC, where do you leave your stuff while you jump?

Recommended Posts

So when you are in the air, where do YOU leave your stuff? I've got a second rig, along with my wallet and other things, and obviously want to leave them some place safe when I'm jumping. I've never been out to Rantoul so I have no clue what the setup is like. Thanks.

Best place to leave everything of value is in your car. We're all family but as with everything else in life, there are bad seeds. In most cases, no one will bother your stuff but the bad seeds might decide that it's better theirs than yours.
If you don't have a car, in your tent is the next best option.

Have fun, be safe and definitely seek out Sheila - the mayor's wife. She's a hoot.

well, I can't imagine that cars can park closee enough to the boarding area where I'll want my second rig to be, but thanks for the advice.

if i'm going to be paying a packer all day, I assume I could just leave my stuff by them?

Cars are parked everywhere including right next to the organizer tents and the packing tents. Leaving your stuff locked in the car is the safest place unless you have a non-jumper sitting with the gear while you are in the air.

Stuff does get "lost" at the convention. :(

Blue skies,

Jim

Best bet is to park your car on Main street, leave your stuff in it. Hitch a ride on one of our shuttles, which I PROMISE will be better marked than last year, and have the shuttle driver deliver you where ever you want to go. Then when you land, look for a shuttle driver to take you back to your car.
NO problem!

I didn't have a car so i was forced to leave everything in my tent, including a whole bunch of expensive camera equipment that i was bringing back for a mate. It stressed me out to no end but it was all good at the end of the day.

Leave anything you really need secured in your car. Besides that, lots of people leave their stuff in the dropzone.com tent, or whichever tent they choose to call "home" for the boogie. Most tents generally have someone hanging out, taking up all the room on the sofas (Sunshine).

Don't sweat the small stuff,

Chuck

You'll be there with me. You can leave your stuff in my car or, if you get in on it, at Rocky's place.
Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. They ring the bell and runaway... It really pisses him off.

hey! I wondered where those pillows came from! I slept on one of them on Sunday night! Some of that junk made it's way over to the hangar. If it hasn't been absconded with by the time I get back to Rantoul, I'll add it to your tent!

In your locked car.

For anyone else that is worried about having to walk a long way-

There are so many people riding around on golf carts at any given time that all you need to do is ask and someone will give you a ride.

But that won't be an issue this year since i won't be in the dzcom tent. :)

I have three rigs and I have never had one stolen. Leave your walet in the car...You buy jump tickets to get on planes. So keep your tickets and some cash on you to buy food. Pay your packers at the end of the day with the money you left safely in your car. You'll be good! Just don't lose your tickets and make sure to write your info on them if you do. That helps becasue people will often return them to the lost and found if you mark them (which there is a spot to do that). Good luck and see you there!

On that subject, if you're keeping anything of value in an outside pocket of your jumpsuit make sure the pocket is securely zipped up before you jump.

Couple years ago one guy managed to drop his credit card out of a jumpsuit pocket while jumping. Not just once but TWICE! He got lucky, both times it was found and turned into manifest.
