thesaint 0 #1 August 16, 2005 Going to Atlanta Sept 9-11. What dropzone should I jump? I'll probably go early Saturday morning. Thanks for any recommendations. Ashtanga 0 #2 August 16, 2005 Skydive Atlanta in Thomaston, Skydive Monroe is good, Skydive The Farm is good. Stay away from Atlanta Skydive Center. Ever see the movie Deliverance?
Thanatos340 1 #3 August 16, 2005 Atlanta has some of the best DZ`s around to choose from. The Farm is a Beautiful DZ with some great People. They Fly a Caravan and have very scenic 55 acre Private farm to play on. Very relaxing DZ with 2 Swoop Ponds and Great New Facilities. They have a little of everything there and some of the best canopy pilots around. SDA (Skydive Atlanta) is Freefly centeral. Super fast King Air, Great People and the place to be if you want to learn FreeFlying. Monroe is another great DZ. They offer a little of everything there with usually more RW. I am not sure what Plane they have now but they also have very friendly people there. Rome is a Smaller DZ (But Biggest Landing area in the state) with a 207. Mostly RW jumpers. Pick one and you will not be disapointed.
panzwami 0 #4 August 16, 2005 Any specific part of Atlanta? Certain suburbs are noticibly closer to certain dropzones (if driving time is an issue). Also, what are you looking for? Freefly? RW?
fmmobley 0 #5 August 16, 2005 Skydive Monroe uses a Beach 99. Gets to 13,500 in about 10 minutes. It is in Monroe, which is East of Atlanta. It is a great place with friendly people. I highly recommend it.... Marion

Thanatos340 1 #7 August 17, 2005 40 Minutes??? They told me 20 Minutes!! I once heard the Farm was going to change their Slogan to "Only 5 minutes from the DZ that is 20 minutes from anywhere!!".

LoudDan 0 #9 August 17, 2005 Nonsense, give that man points for unoriginality, that's only the 10th time I've seen him type that in the last week. Anyways Saint Dude, I've only been to Thomaston and ASC, and both are great places. Thomaston has a hellasciously fast pimp ride for a plane, and a huge pet friendly hangar, and they don't rely so heavily on tandems so there are usually a lot of fun jumpers. ASC has a Twin Otter with a big door and an airconditioned packing area, plus if you like Scotty Carbones's cooking you'll find him and Tami out back making brisket and what have you. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!

LoudDan 0 #12 August 19, 2005 I stand corrected, the Farm has a great campground, and the bonfires kick ass. I've just haven't jumped there yet. If Chris Spence (The Roaming DZ) is throwing anything while you're here.......GO. Coming soon to a bowl of Wheaties near you!!
