QuoteIt should take you 11/2hr to get to Elsinore and Perris is just 20 min. away.
Does that mean that Perris if farther away than elsinore, or "IF" you go to elsinore first, perris is 20 minutes away?
the 2 dz's are about the same distance from la. depending on which roads you take, perris may be a couple miles closer. it could be said if you go to perris first, elsinore is about 20 minutes away, but the truth is if you go to perris first, you probably won't want to leave. perris truly has everything you need (tunnel, 3 otters, skyvan, restaurant/bar, swimming pool, etc.).
as for travel times on weekend days, I usually could get to either dz in about 1:10, without trying, but I do drive fast. when trying, I've had it take under an hour, but figure the drive will be around 80 miles. driving back to la in the evenings is very time/traffic dependant. I have been finding the traffic from perris to be a little lighter than from elsinore.

says the guy who lists his home dz as "Not Elsinore."
Sounds like past history there.
When I drive 450 miles south, as I have 4 weekends this year, I go to Elsinore. It's not a vote against Perris where I have 7 jumps and 3 tunnel sessions, but a vote for Elsinore.
And if you stay in southern Orange Co, Elsinore is closer. If you drive 91, doesn't seem like it would be very different.
Both DZs take a similar amount of driving time. I take 60/10 to 215 if I'm going to Perris. I take 91 if I'm going to Elsinore.
91 tends to have a bit more traffic, though, since it's really the only freeway from OC out to Riverside county. It all depends on when you go. Early saturday mornings are clear, usually. Sunday nights headed back into LA are bad with the Palm Springs and Vegas weekend traffic returning to the city.

super otter and caravan, plenty of covered packing area, on the edge of a lake nestled in the mountains, overlooking the ocean.... friendly, and mostly vertical, but we do have some bj's there (belly jumpers) that keep it interesting.
about an 1.25 hrs from elsinore or perris down the 15/215... and for the next 2 wednesdays, full alti jumps are ONLY $10.00!!!! all day
... and besides... the angry hobbit jumps there!

yes, you've got me there. but my profile also lists container as not a racer. maybe my profile says those things because many people have associated me with them for many years, but things change.
both dz's have good points, and if you want to know negatives, pm me. I have a few hundred jumps at elsinore, and about the same at perris, so historically I haven't been to biased.

I have a stepbro in Newport Beach. What about 74 -> I-5 -> 74 (that really windy looking thing)? Or is it just WAY too windy? Just curious.

That's the route I drive when I stay at a friend's in Laguna Niguel. It's windy enough that you'll probably get stuck behind an incompetent SUV driver on the way home. Still the Ortega is more fun than going north to 91.
To Perris, the higher speeds of the big freeways win out. But for Elsinore, very unlikely. It's under an hour from Laguna to the DZ most times. 1:15 might be my slowest. Just remember to turn right when you descend towards the lake, not follow 74 to the 215.
