negativeblue 0 #1 October 31, 2005 Since we've got less than two months, I figured it'd be a great time to see who's going, meet each other, and share some experiences from past competitions. This will be my first time to Collegiates, so I don't have any experiences to share. I'll be coming with other members from the University of Georgia Skydiving Club and we'll be competing in various events. Who's coming? Where you coming from? First time? Care to share a memorable experience? Do's and don'ts? Hotel vs Camping opinions? Definitely looking forward to meeting everyone in FL! - jason www.skydawgs.com
eUrNiCc 0 #2 October 31, 2005 Hello & congrads on making the trip to Collegiates! I'll be getting there on the 26th or 27th. Lake Wales is a really great DZ, however they're still rebuilding from the hurricane last year so I'm not really sure what sort of facilities that everyone should expect. Last year we made due with a trailer for manifest, the last hangar left standing for paid packing, a tarp for free packing, and a small bathroom trailer. This will be my second trip to Collegiates with the University of North Carolina-CH Skydiving Club. This year I'm hoping to compete in Freefly and Sport Acc, as well as doing some wingsuiting for fun afterwards. I'd definately suggest camping, just bring a warm sleeping bag. Last year was suprisingly cold for FL. Memorable experience: Last year I landed in the swamp right next to the camping area... I was lucky enough to stand up the landing, but stopming through the mud in booties is no fun either. Do: Have lots of fun, make lots of jumps, meet lots of cool people, beat some military teams. Don't: Come to collegiates to compete in Sport Acc. with like 3 jumps on your new Katana 107, decide to huck a 270 from about 300ft, and dig out just in time to save your femurs. Yes... this happened to a guy last year. He hit the ground hard enough to knock his shoes off. He limped away, but he had to drop out of the comp. December can't come soon enough. I'll see you all in Lake Wales!Egad, A BASE life defiles a bad age.
Derekbox 0 #3 November 1, 2005 Ill be there. I dont know if I will be competing or doing video or just fun jumping. We will see - havent decided yet. If any of you all need help with anything PM me, or IM me. I live in Orlando, Lake Wales in my home DZ and I will be more than happy to help, I can shack ppl up if they want to come early/stay late and hit the tunnel or tear down O-town, I may be able to ferry some ppl to and from the DZ to the airport too. Just ask. QuoteDon't: Come to collegiates to compete in Sport Acc. with like 3 jumps on your new Katana 107, decide to huck a 270 from about 300ft, and dig out just in time to save your femurs. panzwami 0 #4 November 1, 2005 Why does Sport Acc at Collegiates always seem to bring out the worst in peoples' canopy flying? I still can't believe some of the stuff I've seen with my own eyes.
