EricaH 0 #1 November 14, 2005 We're planning on going to the boogie in February. I couldn't find online any advice as to which PR airport to fly into, are there shuttles of any kind & does anyone know of hotels in the area? I'm guessing flying into San Juan is better - it looks like some larger roads than cutting north through the entire country. My s/o found a hotel for over $120US/night. I was wondering if there's anything else near if not even on the dz? Is there camping? Are there showers? I really have no idea & am looking for any information. I've never rented a car out of the country either, are there any hints anyone has or is it not really that different? In Jamaica I know they drive on the left side of the road. Being as PR is a US territory, I'm guessing you drive on the right side? Please forgive my ignorance! Any answers are great, just seeking info. There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. jguy904 0 #2 November 14, 2005 go to the website for xdivers. u can email or call jason (dzo). very cool dude. the dz has several hotels they recommend and have deals with. you can find much cheaper hotels than 120/night. you drive on the right side. renting cars (recommended) is the same as here. make sure your insurance covers u for a rental in pr. get a letter from your insurance co stating specifically that u are covered for a rental in pr or u may get jacked on rental insurance in pr. u fly to san juan. it's about an hour to the dz. the view is great. i've been the last 2 years and would be going again except i decided to go to oz for feb this year. you'll have a great time. berchtoldaj 0 #3 November 14, 2005 Really fun boogie with great views. thats all good advice, I would email Jason for a current list of hotels. A lot of them are local "suite" type places with more than 1 bedfroom which is cool for grouping people. Fly in to san juan, split a rent a car. no camping(unless somethings changed). drive on whichever side of the road you want. and the trick they use to make you buy the insurance seems to turn out to be a blessing in disguise when another skydiver sideswipes your rental car. Hopefully I'll see u there.its a kick ass boogie.************ Watch out for planters.
EricaH 0 #4 November 14, 2005 Thank you so much for both your help/input!! I will e-mail Jason. It's great to hear that there are less expensive rooms around. If we were acutally going for the hotel (& not to jump all day) I could see spending the $. Prob will pay more for the insurance so mine isn't bothered. I tried driving on the left side in Australia, didn't go so well. I'm trying to stick to right sided countries for a while (hehehe). Have a blast over there Jeff. A few of us are following Matty Wright to PR for the freefly organizing. It sounds like a supurb boogie!! There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. I'm a Puertorrican girl and also skydiver, I be there but I cant jump because I'm pregnant right now, and my due date is after the boogie. I recommend you that make hotel reservation as soon as possible because is Valentin weekend and you know, how the hotel gets. I hope that you make all the travel planning and you find everything. If you need anything more let me know by here....Blues Skies... Keila HISPA #80 "Enjoy the day like is the last one of your life"
