Super Otter Confirmed for The Kansas City Sydiving Center's Grand Opening Boogie!

Recommended Posts

It's official! Due to the unexpectedly high turnout for our Grand Opening boogie, we are bringing in a Super Otter to keep everyone in the air. The Otter will be arriving around noon on Friday, March 31st. This is a FAST airplane with quick turnaround times.

In addition to a Super Otter, we will have free load organizing for all levels, free seminars, and free pizza and drinks on Saturday night. There are also some birdman jumpers coming out from Florida, so we're looking forward to putting together some nice flocks.

For all of the people that have inquired about hotel rooms, we recommend the Slumber Inn (www.slumber-inn.com). They have nice, clean rooms with free high-speed internet, and reasonable rates. They are less than a mile from the dropzone, and the hotel has offered to provide a free shuttle to and from the dropzone.

If you have any other questions or suggestions, please e-mail us at jump@kcskydiving.com

See you April 1st!

This is great news. Seems that maybe not all the locals are upset by the new DZ coming to town and here is proof that they are looking at possible positve economics of having another new business around as well.
This could be a great boogie.

WooHoo!!! I'll see you there. How much will jump tickets be? Will there be a registration fee and, if so, what is included with it? I can't wait!

The registration is FREE and included with this free registration is free load organizing for all levels, free pizza, BBQ and drinks on Saturday night, as well as free boogie-bags for all attendees. The boogie forecast looks great! We are looking forward to jumping with everyone!

There was some confusion on directions to the dropzone, so please be sure to check out http://www.kcskydiving.com/base/directions.html for updated directions. There are two different exits for Hwy-7, so be sure to take the Hwy-7 South exit (the fourth Harrisionville exit, towards Clinton).

The Slumber Inn is almost booked up, so if you're waiting to put in a reservation, be sure to do that soon. I think all of their smoking rooms are gone, but they do have a couple of non-smoking rooms left.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. See you all this weekend!

Just came home from the new dz... it's really windy out there today so not much going on...
The place was packed though.... Saturday should be a great day for all to enjoy!
Joe

They flew a full sunset Otter load with 22 people after the winds died down. The energy at this place was so amazing! There were probably 40-50 people there today, and they weren't even officially open yet. The DZO's are all about making this place great for the fun-jumpers. Everybody gathered around after sunset and popped a bottle of champagne to toast the new DZO's. I can't wait till tomorrow!

I'm gonna try and make it out tomorrow after I get off work, had stuff come up and felt bad to have to cancel as I am dedicated to my job and our students here at the dz but as soon as we're done I'm gonna shoot on over. Enjoy everyone and say hi to everyone else from KSUPC that were there tonight and will be there first thing in the morning.

I was just out at Missouri River Valley Skydivers Friday and they had a turbine porter there and flying loads. Looks like they did 3-4 loads at the end of the day after the winds died down. It's an incredible jumpship with dual sliding window doors and a huge "porch" to stand on on both sides. They have a beautiful, clean facility with nice hot showers, mens and womens, tons of space, the best KC BBQ Sat. night courtesy of the championship award winning "Swine Flew BBQ," beer, excellent indoor packing, huge pavillion with food service and a nice lounge area and is a dedicated skydiving airport with a beautiful view out of those all picture window doors on both sides in the Porter of the MO River and Sunshine Lake. Great opportunity to jump an awesome -27 screaming Porter. Enjoy all the turbines, wherever you jump this weekend. Be safe.

Hey thanks Don. I can't make it down to the new Dz today as my work is in the way. But I will make it down to the new dz on Sunday.
I have got a few calls and the report was that there are at least 100 jumpers out enjoying the turbines.
Last season KC had no turbines, just cessnas that went to 9,000 ft. now we have TWO turbines in one weekend at two diffrent DZ's... how cool is that? way cool!

Oh my God! How cool was that! This place rocks! There were well over 150 people people from all over the place out there. The Super Otter was wheels up by about 8:30 am and it flew non-stop with completely full loads until sunset. I definitely beat my record of most jumps in a day. After sunset, the DZO's bought dinner for everyone and there were kegs of Boulevard out there (my favorite!). This place is definitely going to be my home DZ!

Thanks for all your efforts and hard work Paul and Joanna. Kim Tessa and I had a great time, met some great people, and as the youngsters say enjoyed some good vibes. Couple of fun flocks with the birds from up north.

What's really good news is that so many skydivers had so much fun this weekend. Lucky there were two DZ's with turbines so they could all make those loads.

Sounds like a great boogie!!! I was stuck here in rainy California with family obligations.

I feel inclined to through the first stone :D So where the hell were the police and "Farmer McNasty"? Sounds like the boogie went as planned and someone's lipservice was just that!

Congrats to Kansas City Skydiving Center on their Grand Opening!!!

Thank you everybody for coming out yesterday for our grand opening. We had 168 registered jumpers who kept the Otter flying full until sunset. Some photos of the day have been posted by a local resident, Helen Budinger, who came out to watch the activities. They can be seen at http://www.illusions-cs.com/KCS/index.htm We enjoyed meeting everyone and we look forward to a fantastic season! The Super Otter will be here again next weekend, so join us for 4-way scrambles and lots of other great skydives.
