Free ticket to the US. What to do...?

Recommended Posts

OK, So I am being sent to Fermilab (close to Chicago) to attend a summer school in the period August 9-18. It would be a shame to let a perfectly good plane ticket across the Atlantic go to waste, so I think I need to fit in some skydiving vacation.

What to do?

Where to go?

I am from Denmark. The biggest jump ship in the country is a C-206 TU, so any major DZ in the US would likely be an experience. I was sort of thinking about the WFFC, though. It looks fun and it is close to Chicago.

Comments? Thoughts? Suggestions?

Edit: Are there any tunnels nearby?

Ummm....You notice that the WFFC starts on July 21 and goes to July 29th...you'll need to come a little earlier than Aug. 9th. obviously.

You can just drop in to Skydive Chicago during your stay.
Summerfest starts July 29 and runs until Aug. 6 still early but closer to your time frame.

My reality and yours are quite different.
I think we're all Bozos on this bus.

Bonnie, my question was based on the observation that "Details & Event schedule will be posted" doesn't tell me much with regards to what kind of a boogie this is and which venue to choose. ;)

Still don't see anyone explaining what kind of a boogie this is. The WFFC seems to be a zillion jumpers and 0.1 zillion airplanes. What kind of a place is Summerfest? Anyone actually been there? ;)

Sorry for being so persistent, but I have to book my ticket soon, so I need to figure out some dates.

Edit: And I am perfectly aware that this is a luxury problem. Oh... all these choices. :)

Sheesh.... Come to the really cool Boogie..Lost Prairie. Its up in the mountains of Montana..about 1600 miles west of Chicago.... the weather is damn near perfect... the lakes are crystal clear and about 75 degrees..... there are only about 500 jumpers there with their families.... and there are quite a few DIZZIE DOT COMMERS who will be there.

The airplanes are two Twin Otters and a Skyvan from Skydive Arizona and there is PLENTY of availability of jump aircraft to jump just as much as you want.

The Lang Creek Brewery ( Americas most remote Brewery) is just a few miles away and actually has some decent beer.... Skydiver Blonde and Tri Motor Ale...and plenty of other choices when we go to the brewery.

The days are long... since sunset is about 9:30 PM that time of year.. the Boogie runs from July 29 to Aug 7th the week following the WFFC. This way all the people who did not get to jump for that week can come jump their butts off in Montana:P

Summerfest is at Skydive Chicago. Check out their website to see what the dz is like. I haven't been to Summerfest myself, but I've read on here that it's a little more laid back and less jumpers to WFFC, but since it is Skydive Chicago you'll still get good planes and facilities.

You are all evil evil people. Now you are making me want to go to both Summerfest and the WFFC... ;)

Lost Prairie is probably not an option, though.

Arrgghh... I'll make up my mind eventually. :)
