DZs around Heidelberg, Germany or Budapest, Hungary?

Recommended Posts

I'm going to be in Europe for a while in July for the world cup and would love to jump there!

I will be in Heidelberg for a while and then in Budapest. I will (fingers crossed) be freshly on an A license then and won't have my own gear so it would have to be some place with a rental scheme which is newbie-friendly. It would be awesome if I could do coached jumps. Also, I would be using public transport to get around.. are there any DZs accessible to either of these areas?

Please advise.. thanks!!:)
Edit to add: I have looked on the DZ database, it is just really hard because most of the relevant websites contain no English!!

In Germany, there's a small dropzone between Heilbronn and Nurnberg that the Stuttgart Outdoor Recreation folks did their jumps at. I don't know if that's still the case, that was several years ago. You may want to try contacting them and see if they're still jumping there. As I recall, it was about 1.5 hours drive (or so) from the Heidelberg area.

Alternately, there's Schweighofen (about 15 miles or so from Karlsruhe, which is about an hour south of Heidelberg), and if I recall correctly, Schlierstadt, which is outside of Franfurt (again, about 1.5 hours drive from Heidelberg or so).

Good luck!!
