VegasBrad 0 #1 August 22, 2006 I jump in the Las Vegas area (42 jumps now) and have a been a Flyaway tunnel rat for 3 1/2 years. I'm originally from San Jose and will be back in the area Sept 18-23. My birthday is the 20th and there is nothing I would rather do than jump my ass off. Which DZ should I go to? I'm not familiar with any DZ in the area, and I don't want to drive more than 2 hours or jump a cessna (got one at home DZ). Thanks for the help!Brad Hess Manager Vegas Indoor Skydiving
NWFlyer 2 #2 August 22, 2006 I've been to all four of the DZs up there that cater to up jumpers (Hollister, Byron, Lodi, Davis - in rough order of distance from San Jose), and they're all great and have their charms. I'll defer to the locals on details on which ones are open on weekdays and likely to be busy. Of course, if you can get there the weekend before, you should come down to Paso Robles for the Star Farms Boogie (there's a thread going with details)."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
monkycndo 0 #3 August 22, 2006 Hollister- King Air, C206- $22 to 15K, $25 to 18K if tandem is going Byron- King Air, C206- $20 to13.5K Davis- 2 PAC 750XLs- $20 to 13.5K Lodi- Otter and 2 Beech 99s- $15 to 13K These are the prices are for the last time I jumped. They may have changed with the fluctuation in fuel costs. Hollister and Byron would be the closest to you. Lodi is the furthest. Byron tends to be closed on Monday and Tuesday. Hollister is open weekdays if they have enough people/tandems to get a plane in the air(might be a C206). Davis normally closed Monday. Lodi is open every day. I jump them all regularly, which one just depends on what I feel like doing or if one of them has a special event.50 donations so far. Give it a try.
