Hi all,
I having recently returned ( early ) from a disasterous skydiving holiday
I am looking to plan another one slightly better by doing some research. I
like to camp, so i can spend more money on jumping. I am thinking about Skydive
City or Skydive Deland over Christmas . Which of these dropzone has good
camping facilities. From searching I understand that both have a good
reputation. I have low jump numbers having recently completed static line
progression so a good atmosphere is also important to me.:)Thanks

If I had to choose between Deland and Skydive City at that experience level, I'd go Skydive City in Z-Hills, hands down. They will take care of you.

If you're looking for something to do AFTER Christmas, consider going to Sebastian. Cross Keys will be "invading" between 12/28 and 1/10, bringing their staff, gear, planes, and great vibes. See my post entitled "X Keys Invasion @ Sebastian 2006-2007". More details are to come, but it has been a great success the past couple of years and is guaranteed to be even better this year.

Hope to see you there! :P

Z-hills will be having a Christmas boogie, so there will be a lot of people there. Since your jump numbers are low, just be aware that it will be very busy.

As far as camping facilites go, I think Z-hills wins this one. The camping area in Z-hills is behind the parking area, so you get some privacy. In Deland, it's right at the end of the landing area. I think the bathroom facilites are nicer in Z-hills too.

If you're going to have a car, I highly recommend traveling around a little though. The major dz's are just a few hours from each other and they are all worthy of a visit. :)

Is it not advised for a student like myself to go to a busy dz?

I don't know how large your home dz is. But low-timers who come from small dz's that run a Cessna sometimes find their first boogies a little overwhelming because there are so many more canopies in the sky with them. As long as you're comfortable with that, you're good to go. :)
