DougH 270 #1 October 19, 2006 I was wondering if any one knew of any drop zones in the Caribbean besides the ones in Puerto Rico? My girlfriend has been giving me some grief about never planning trips, and if I am going to be some where nice and sunny for two weeks it would be nice to enjoy some free fall time. DougH 270 #4 October 21, 2006 Looks awesome, but that looks like a boogie, not a permanent DZ? Besides: QuotePlease have 500 jumps minimum and water training!(We will be in freefall over water and the landing area is a 500 X 300 ft. area on the beach.) Flotation gear is optional, but recommended. I have a safety boat on standby for each jump. It appears to be outside of my experience level."The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

chanti 0 #6 October 24, 2006 QuoteI was wondering if any one knew of any drop zones in the Caribbean besides the ones in Puerto Rico? The Caribbean people are not adrenaline junkies. When I went to Trinidad and Tobago 2 years ago, I asked at the tourist information bureau, and their exact words were: (insert Caribbean accent here!)" Nah gyal! Ya chose de wrong island, man. Here, dey cyah even fly de plane streehhht, neva mine jump outta it!" -Chanti-
DougH 270 #7 October 24, 2006 They aren't, but fat rich americans coming off the cruise ships are. Maybe I should start one!!"The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
riggerrob 643 #8 October 26, 2006 QuoteThey aren't, but fat rich americans coming off the cruise ships are. Maybe I should start one!! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> And that is the key point! Most Caribbean Islands are populated by poor people, to poor to skydive. A Caribbean DZ would only survive if it could attract thousands of fat, rich, American tourists for tandems. I have researched a couple of business proposals and been offered work at a small/tiny/one TI DZ on ... anonymous island ... , but few of those ventures looked profitable and I could never figure out how to skim off enough to bribe local officials.?????
