tomgreen 0 #1 January 11, 2007 Hi all. I'm in the Bay Area and I'm looking to jump for tomorrow and the weekend. What is my best bet? Suck up the cold weather and go to Monterey Bay, or somewhere else nearby? Or suck up the long drive and go to Taft or Perris? How painful is the cold up here this time of year, and how many loads do the Northern Cal dzs really send? Thanks! Tom
NWFlyer 2 #2 January 11, 2007 Stay in NorCal! Looking at the forecasts, it's no warmer in Perris than it is in NorCal right now. I've jumped at four major DZs in NorCal as a visitor (Byron/Bay Area Skydiving, Skydance/Davis, Adventure Center Skydiving/Hollister, and The Parachute Center/Lodi), and each of them is welcoming and has their pluses and minuses. For a weekend, all of them will probably be equally busy, and they do jump year-round down there. Where are you in the Bay Area? - it might make sense to go to the closest one. I haven't jumped at Monterey, so I don't know what the current situation is, but rumor has it that it's not the most up-jumper friendly, though the views are spectacular."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
