fred 0 #26 January 30, 2003 Isn't 10 declared jumps within 10m of the target the requirement for a PRO rating? Billvon, are you seriously suggesting that the first time a jumper downsize should be sometime after they get their pro?

It's 10 consecutive pre-declared jumps within 5 meters for your pro rating.Fly it like you stole it!
PhreeZone 20 #28 January 30, 2003 And you better be able to land a large canopy in an area like that every time if you want to get a smaller canopy. Standing up every jump is a needed skill to have before you get smaller and faster when a tiny mistake can easly snap bones. Jumping into backyards on balloon jumps is interesting and thats a landing that you can control where you land to a point. I sure would want to know I can put my canopy in a backyard before I get into the situation were I need to put it there.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
JDBoston 0 #29 January 30, 2003 What you describe (10 within 10 meters) is the accuracy requirement for a USPA B license. Not exactly a tall order for a reasonably competent canopy pilot. Joe

No; they don't have to be pre-declared or stopping within the 10 meters, I figure if they can reliably get point of first contact within 10 meters that's a pretty good level of accuracy. That's not hard for anyone with even moderate canopy skills; indeed, higher performance canopies give you longer planeouts and thus a greater window to 'tap' the target if you fly by. If there are people under HP canopies that can't even do THAT, not only should they not downsize, they might want to consider going back up a size. Competence isn't an unreasonable prerequisite to downsizing.
