GreenMachine 0 #1 April 24, 2007 Blue Skies Guys, Looking for a pilot to take me up for a jump so I can put Alaska in my log book. Don't care what type of aircraft or how high, as long as it is above 1,500 feet Thanks for any help or leads.Rigger, Skydiver, BASE Jumper, Retired TM
Bolas 5 #2 April 25, 2007 You may have better luck in Anchorage. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.

GreenMachine 0 #4 April 25, 2007 Thanks Bolas & Selbbub78, I appreciate the replys...guess I should have better explained the situation. The wife and I are taking a cruise and two of our ports of call are Juneau & Skagway. Hence different cities or different time periods won't work.Rigger, Skydiver, BASE Jumper, Retired TM

bluskytrvlr 0 #7 April 27, 2007 Dude, Call the airport FBO at Skagway, ask for a name of a local pilot(s) who might help get you in the air. Learn how to file your own NOTAM. Not hard, Flight Service will walk you through it. Hint, file a landing area more than five miles from the airport-it makes things much simpler paperwork wise especially if the airport has commercial traffic, or what the hell go for the whole enchilada and be your own one man airshow and land at the airport, it's Alaska, its like a whole 'nother country. When I jumped the fifty states with my wife we found a lot of cool ways to score jumps. Filing your own NOTAM is intimidating at first but after you do it once, no sweat. Course you could go the outlaw route, saves paperwork and adds that certain thrill to the whole adventure. Hope you have a ball!A mile of highway can take you a mile But a mile of Runway can take you anywhere! Blue Sky Traveler

If you're five miles from the airport you are either out to sea or halfway up the Chilcoot trail.
bluskytrvlr 0 #9 April 28, 2007 All you need is a spot on The Klondike Highway or the Chilkoot Trail, where theres a will theres a way. We flew down a driveway and landed in a back yard in Fort Yukon. Whatever. Heck land back on the ship as its sailing away, that will make the cruise more exciting!A mile of highway can take you a mile But a mile of Runway can take you anywhere! GreenMachine 0 #11 May 6, 2007 Had everything lined up for a sweet chopper ride over some glaciers with the wife and an experienced pilot who was gonna let me hop out at the end. However, today the weather is sh*t!! Wet, cold, cloudy, rainy Rigger, Skydiver, BASE Jumper, Retired TM
FallinAngel 0 #12 May 13, 2007 When in Skagway, see if Mike Dobson is around. We flew a few loads a few years ago out in Dyea over the flats. Incredible views.....

Okay, I know that my reply is like 1,5 years late =P, but did you mean you actually had a couple of loads jump out over Dyea flats? Man, I wish I had seen that! Didn't notice any skydivers there during 2006 season...
