darwin143 0 #1 May 16, 2007 I'm going to be in Ixtapa, Mexico for the first week of July. Is the DZ open in the summer/during the week? Are there any jump restrictions (since the LZ is the beach)? My boyfriend's dad has been interested in doing a tandem, so I figured he could do his tandem there and I could do a few jumps. Just wanted to know if I should go through all the hassle of bringing my rig with me
tigra 0 #2 May 16, 2007 In the past, that's been a Winter DZ only- November through March-ish. There generally aren't enough tourists in the summer. As far as restrictions for fun jumpers- if they're open, you'll probably need a B license or at least be "B Qualified" and you'll need flotation gear. Don't expect rental gear or a packer. I doubt they will be open, but if you do a search in this forum, you'll find contact info for the people who worked there this past winter. They can tell you for sure. wheresval 0 #4 May 18, 2007 Sorry, Ixtapa is only open Dec-April and I think Puerto Escondito is closed for the season too. Maybe you can visit us in the winter ????? and as for the landing area being the beach - no worries - they run an aff program and land students there - it's huge.
