Bmore_chrissy 0 #26 December 27, 2007 I emailed them... we'll see. Thanks I actually emailed Maytown too... but until i get my new rig (1 - 2 weeks!) I'm renting and C-burg's rental gear is better And Booby, You know what C-burg has (over the winter) that Delmarva doesn't ? Aircraft...
peregrinerose 0 #27 December 27, 2007 Wooohooo! New gear coming... congrats Yep, Cburg has much more by way of rental gear options than Maytown, no comparison there. Both are great DZs. I honestly couldn't pick one that I liked better.. pros and cons of both.... so I just jump at both of them Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
shibbayshib 0 #28 December 27, 2007 I think I might convert at least for a little bit to chambersburg. I did my A license training there so I'm a little partial, but I want the altitude and the possibility of more than a four way. During the winter months (jan-feb) how does the amount of people compare between the two places? See you at chambersburg soon. Watch out for the big banana. peregrinerose 0 #29 December 28, 2007 It really depends on the weather... if there's not a lot of jumpers there, Cburg will be flying a cessna, not the King Air. They need 8 to fly the KA. Honestly, I havent been to Cburg since before thanksgiving due to the weather, so can't give you a good comparison from this year. Cburg on a good weather day will have more people than Maytown in the winter, on a blah or so-so weather day, Maytown may have a few more. In the summer, Cburg is much busier than Maytown, and always flying the KA. Check it out for yourself sometime If you're up for a winter trip, let me know... a bunch of us from both DZs are going to Eloy Feb 14-18 Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
DJL 235 #30 December 31, 2007 I've only been there one and had a great time even though we weren't there for overnight festivities. We were there training for our 8-way CRW team and even though we were busy and mostly hanging to ourselves most of the people made an effort to introduce themselves."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
PrairieDoug 0 #31 January 2, 2008 Hey Chris - I'm the guy who picked up his rig while you were talking to JR. (I don't look at this forum often and just noticed your message.) It was great to meet you and I look forward to jumping with you when you're back in the area. Take care, Doug

Bmore_chrissy 0 #33 January 4, 2008 Sunday... Weather looks a little warmer and there's a mostly good forecast. Anyone planning on heading out?
ejmack 0 #34 January 6, 2008 Finally found a good place to jump! Only got one jump in yesterday but everyone out there was great!
skydivingchad 0 #35 January 7, 2008 How did your jump go? I introduced myself to you while we were getting ready to board the plane. I was the one with the red fuzzy helmet. Bmore_chrissy 0 #36 January 7, 2008 Just wanted to thank everyone who helped me out on Sunday. We didn't quite get to jump but I got an awesome ride by the door of the Cessna (clouds...), and I took the B license written test Will definitely be back. I need see how a 4-way could possibly launch from that 182!

Can't beat the speed that plane gets you to altitude, it was also nice being able to jump with someone my first time out there!

Bmore_chrissy 0 #39 January 11, 2008 C-burg, tomorrow. A couple delmarvans are thinking of coming up. Anyone else planning on braving the cold before it gets colder?
peregrinerose 0 #40 January 11, 2008 We're looking at houses this weekend, so if we jump anywhere, it'll be Maytown tomorrow. We tend to be Chambersburgers from March to November and Maytownians for the winter due to geography. But if you go, tell everyone we said 'hi' and miss them!!! Bmore_chrissy 0 #41 January 11, 2008 Well in that case, look at houses near C-burg! I was there last weekend and was warned of the 'beer marshall' by Kathie. I assume that means you?
peregrinerose 0 #42 January 11, 2008 LOL!!!! Yes, I'm the beer marshall.... unanimously elected two consecutive years. We are not looking at housing anywhere near Chambersburg... no way in hell I'd want to raise kids there. Great DZ, not the place I want to live. We're probably buying a home in Newport, PA, which is actually going to make the trip to Cburg (and every other freaking DZ on the planet) much farther.... this is total middle of nowhere Perry County. 1800 sq foot Amish built Log Cabin on 4 acres of wooded land surrounded by forest and farms. Absolutely beautiful. We're negotiating now, but looking at a couple of others this weekend just to be sure we're not falling in love with the first home we look at. But we are in love. It even has a room that is about 12' by 30'..... as soon as I walked in, I knew that was my rigging loft, I'm so excited!!!!! Bmore_chrissy 0 #43 January 11, 2008 Well good luck with the househunting! And if it helps you rest easier, in your wintry absence it appears that the beer fridge is being looked after. I spoke to JR earlier about tomorrow, and he firmly reminded me of my beer duties
peregrinerose 0 #44 January 12, 2008 Glad to hear JR and Kathie are keeping everyone in line with regard to the beer fridge in my absence Have fun, you'll have a great time there. Tell everyone Chad and I said hi! Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda
