The draw? To jump in Mexico with friends in the winter.

Expensive jumps? Maybe they have to bus or boat to the manifest after landing. Maybe fuel is a bit pricey. Maybe the locals needed some payola.

Outrageous boogie fee? Not hardly.

And no, I'm not going, but wish I was...

First of all, thank you for you question. The price of the boogie fee includes 2 drinks the night at Carlos N Charlie's and the price of the Booze Cruise which in itself cost $35 and includes the bonfire and party at Playa Larga.

Here at Skydive Ixtapa we have some other significant expenses in providing you with some of the most beautiful skydives available in the world. They would include additional transportation costs as we are located on the beach where you land every jump not at the airport. In addition, we fly out of an international airport here in Ixtapa. Because of these additional capital expenses and fees this forces a higher jump ticket price.

It truly is a beautiful place to skydive, and there are some additional costs associated with jumping there. (And no, I am not affilliated with the DZ in any way.......) When I was there a few years ago, there was no boogie fee but also no additional organized events like the booze cruise. The jumps were also a little bit less expensive but the cost of fuel is higher now. And they probably still have to pay off the taxi mafia for every load they take to the airport. Those guys literally would not let the bus leave Carlos and Charlies before they were paid off.

Anyway, you could offset the boogie fee and expensive jumps by staying in nearby Zihua instead of one of the resorts in Ixtapa.

Hey thanks for your nice post in helping to explain our situation! And yes, we do still have to pay the "taxi mafia" every time we leave Carlos. For those of you wondering why, there is a huge problem with the taxi unions here and they say that we are transporting tourists to the airport and that's their job, so we have the pay them 150 pesos every time we leave(that's what they charge to go to the airport).

There are plenty of places to stay here both in Zihua, which is cheaper or in Ixtapa located very close to our DZ. I would be willing to offer information to anyone looking to come jump here.

Thanks Bret! I wish you were here!

Skydive Ixtapa Boogie is going on NOW!!! The boogie has just started and we NEED fun jumpers! There's still time to get your ticket and come to paradise!!!!

How long is the boogie going to go on - More to the point - how long is Ixtapa open? I don't know if I can make the boogie - but I'd like to know if the DZ there is seasonal.
I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama
