rhys 0 #1 January 25, 2008 Hi, Do any of you guys out there know of friendly dropzones that Have a pilatus Porter or 3? Myself and My partner Leigh will be training for the 2008 world meet (to be held in France), The competition aircraft will be porters so we would like to train from these aircraft. We will be grateful for any information. NWFlyer 2 #4 January 25, 2008 http://www.nwskydivers.com/index.htm Not sure if they're operating off-season, though. And our weather definitely can't be relied upon outside of the summer."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. pilotdave 0 #7 January 25, 2008 I was at Deland two mondays ago... I think they put up 19 porter loads or something. That's impressive for a monday, but not so impressive compared to the 20+ skyvan loads they put up that same day. Dave
DFWAJG 4 #8 January 26, 2008 Skydive the RAnch in NY has a Porter. It's the prefered aircraft in the winter because it is heated.
aphid 0 #9 January 26, 2008 This one is up and flying at Skydive Arizona... see attached. John
LloydDobbler 2 #10 January 26, 2008 Was down at Perris today, and they're still rebuilding theirs (if what I've heard is true, they bought two Porters and are cannibalizing one to get the other one flying - a "FrankenPorter," if you will). On the plus side, the DC-9 is down for maintenance, and I was told it was queued behind the Porter, so it looks like they're making it a priority. Didn't get an ETA, though.Signatures are the new black.

rhys 0 #12 January 27, 2008 Thanks you guys, Who out of allt he DZ's mantioned would have the best jump ticket bulk prices? Shit I can't wait to bang out some training jump!! NWFlyer 2 #13 January 27, 2008 For a "bang out the training jumps" type DZ you'd probably want to look at other DZs than NW Skydivers. I'm a big fan of the DZ and certainly don't want to disparage it, but it's not typically a training-oriented DZ, and if that's what you're looking for I think you'd be disappointed (e.g., not open 7 days a week turning lots of loads with amenities and services geared towards teams)."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. PhreeZone 20 #14 January 28, 2008 Bulk rates? Deland, Eloy and Start are about your only options for now. Start might not have bulk rates on it since its not thier plane and its really being used just for the training for World. The plane will probally do non-stop loads when they have it but its for limited weeks only so look at your schedule first. Deland and Eloy are there all the time.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Amazon 7 #15 January 28, 2008 Basically NWSkydivers is closed at least till the airplane does not sink into the runway.. somewhere like the end of April....its a little muddy out there right nowAnd its not what I would call a bang out jumps kinda place even in the summer...Doc is thinking maybe training of students this year..... Maybe....before that he wants a nice big field for them to aim at rather than the RR Tracks or I-5... or the apple orchard. Otherwise we are still an upjumper only kind of place with a few tandems on the weekends. $ Way training.. ... we just dont do that. Until then I would suggest he stay in AZ or CA... chriswelker 0 #16 January 29, 2008 West Tennessee Skydiving has a Cessna 195 basically set up like a Porter but you can only do 4 + camera. Climbs well to 12,500 or more if needed. Mullins' place is real nice. mikemullins@skydivekingair.com
